when fighting bogeymen kite them so you are only ever fighting one, and when you are fighting one aim for the easiest to hit  out of legs, hands, horns (if applicable), wings (if applicable), and head.

however remember bogeymen wont go down as easy as bandits, so make sure that if a dodge or a missed charge puts you between two of them, get out ASAP.
I have no idea what kite is so I tried wrestling with one and strangling it but unfortunately I had my lungs crushed, how many arrows do you think they are able to withstand?

Think of the enemy as the kite and you are holding the string a distance off. Basically keep running so they are at a distance, don't let them get close, and throw crap at them. If you need to attack with melee or hands run first and get them strung out in a single file line or close to it, then move in, strike once and run again, rinse and repeat.

I find that lopping any limb off usually slows them enough for me to escape them further.
But if youre nowhere near a village, youre screwed (or have to be extremely lucky)

Or you can set the bogeyman setting to 0. They are separate from night creatures now in the custom map settings.

IMHO this companion was very intelligent.

Instead of getting used as cannon fodedr by yourself,
he decided to use you as cannon fodder

Yeah, especially since I found out the hard way they have a unique ability. I was engaged by Bogeymen and fought and wounded each one of them. So I said, “screw this I’ll run away now”. Well I was busy patting myself on the back as I saw the last of them disappear into the fog of night when their “”special”” ability revealed itself.

If you get far enough away from a Bogeyman, they will disappear and immediately respawn near you and they are again at 100% health with no wounds.

After running away for about half an hour real time with bogymen constantly respawning all around me, I realized unless I reached a town or something I was dead meat, so I turned and fought. I managed to kill them but my guy suffocated from his wounds later that night.

In the future all my world gens will have 0 Bogeymen. They’re simply too gimmicky, the world is dangerous enough now, the game no longer needs them.
