I want to tell you they were bad men, cephalo.  I want to tell you that with a better overseer the Fortress never would've gotten so bad someone would get offed in a pointless fisticuffs.
But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

Phew...sorry for slacking of here...and thanks for still bumping this. :P
Yeah I guess we can write Twangy of. I already PMed him like twice. I will try to get Dariush on board, so we can finally get this going again...
Which means a rollback of Twangy's turn...a shame, really, I liked what I saw so far. D:

Edit: Okay, I switched Dariush's and Reudh's turn, because Dariush does not have the time right now.
Good look Reudh.  ;D

Good afternoon folks, this is your pilot Captain Reudh speaking.

We're currently downloading the Watchedgleam save, and in 24 to 36 hours time you should receive an initial update!

Thankyou for flying with Bay12 Air!

Captain Reudh's initial survey report:

  • Well, I like the entrance. Nicely designed. Could benefit from a F.R.O.G once the second floor is finished.
  • Clusterfuck of everything crazy everywhere. THIS PLACE IS MADDENING.
  • I see The Wet Sheep was a smart overseer and is actively working to get rid of the ghosts; as I surveyed one was put to rest and a child vampire completed another's slab.
  • What are the levers for? No one has any notes.
  • The military is quite good, but I don't think we'd be able to stand up to a concerted siege. I intend to train the vampire recruits as frontline soldiers.
  • All forgotten beasts appear to be unable to access Watchedgleam. This pleases me. There's one in the underworld. Here's hoping it tries to fly up the shaft and gets grievously injured / killed.
  • Are there any non-vampires left alive? If so, I plan to entirely segregate them from the vampires.
  • Has the vampire slowdown workaround been implemented (that is, blood has [CE_REMOVE_TAG:ALCOHOL_DEPENDENT])?
  • Twangy is moping around in his cell. He is likely to die soon; he's stricken with melancholy. That'd put our population at 39, of which 34 are adults, of which 30 or so are civilian.
  • I approve of the burrow system.
  • Tentatively, I have let a few haulers out to collect items not affected by any taint.
  • Once everyone's finished with what they're doing outside, I intend to seal off the fort and get all our jobs finished; and then I'll unseal it when they're done. We have waaaaaay too many jobs queued up, so that no one's really free to work. It's useful to have a few idlers socialising so that we can repopulate our civilisation.

Initial survey over. I haven't possessed anyone yet, and this is my pre-Turn update.

Good to see this fort moving again, I was just thinking about it the other day.

Well, I like the entrance. Nicely designed. Could benefit from a F.R.O.G once the second floor is finished.
Why thank you :)
What are the levers for? No one has any notes.
I can tell you that the lever for the bridge entrance is in the small room directly to the right of it, pretty hard to miss. And there's a lever in the guard captain's office that seals the dungeons, but that's all I was involved with.
Are there any non-vampires left alive? If so, I plan to entirely segregate them from the vampires.
Most of the vampires are locked up in jail. But their numbers are on the rise, and there are still lots of dead bodies turning up. If you want, you can force all the citizens to drink from that ominous, blood red well in the tunnels below the fortress. Edit: I just noticed that Archereon put up a sign saying "Well of Eternal Life"
Has the vampire slowdown workaround been implemented (that is, blood has [CE_REMOVE_TAG:ALCOHOL_DEPENDENT])?
Nope, looks like you'll have to do it if you wants.
Twangy is moping around in his cell. He is likely to die soon; he's stricken with melancholy. That'd put our population at 39, of which 34 are adults, of which 30 or so are civilian.
Actually, Twangy's a vampire, so he will never die no matter what. And he'll never have to drink blood either.
Once everyone's finished with what they're doing outside, I intend to seal off the fort and get all our jobs finished; and then I'll unseal it when they're done. We have waaaaaay too many jobs queued up, so that no one's really free to work. It's useful to have a few idlers socialising so that we can repopulate our civilisation.
Make sure you seal off the atom smasher entrance too. Wet Sheep kind of failed at that.

Ah, yes, I thought something was amiss. Now I see. There's not enough terrible things in the lakes.

Ummm, It's been so long since this updated(and I'm too lazy to go and check) that I've forgotten if twangy's turn was where I bought it? if not then check if I'm still alive and if not dorf me again as the first sucker volunteer for the military

This fort really does sit on the event horizon of madness and catastrophe
No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Pretty sure I found your corpse sitting there blinking in the above ground corpse stockpile, along with one other's. I haven't got an update yet, i'm afraid. (Had some family stuff, internet down, etc).

Finally, it's up again! Excellent.

Once everyone's finished with what they're doing outside, I intend to seal off the fort and get all our jobs finished; and then I'll unseal it when they're done. Yeah, and I realized why. Most of the bridges were just extending instead of actually going up and down. Oh well, we got rid of the siege anyway. And, since so many civilians were running through that entrance at the time for their own stupid reasons, it might actually have been better that way. I think at least five dwarves would have been crushed.

  • Are there any non-vampires left alive? If so, I plan to entirely segregate them from the vampires.
Actually, there aren't that many vampires out there after I sent about half of them to fight the undead horde.

What are the levers for? No one has any notes.

I missed the lever connected to the bridge. So I built another one. It is in the place where it looks like someone started to dig a room and then changed his mind while the dwarves were halfway through digging.

Well now. I was just handed this ol' fort like it was a plump helmet. I received a message from our mayor and overseer, Twangykid, written in babbling and terrifying text, from what appeared to be a child with fangs. It said I was the new overseer, and to "have fun".

IMG OF WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO DATE.
Welp, it's time for ol' Lord Reudh Kubukabir to keep these charges alive.

As I took over and Twangy fled, I heard a bloodcurdling scream. Fearing the worst, I rushed in the direction of the cry and found Aban Gandomas, a jeweler, contorted and twisted, dead on the floor. Perhaps fear did this?

No sooner had I found Aban than a heartbroken cry came from the craftsdwarf rooms. A woodcrafter who had entered a mood had failed his mood. Atir Zimkelmonom was stricken with melancholy.

Oh well. I intended to keep as many people alive as I can... but already that's two down, not counting the incapacitated Twangykid. I'm sealing off the failed crusher; I daren't risk deaths from it. I've gotten everyone out of the way.

I've set some more dwarves a'trainin' some animals, so I can empty the glut, and hopefully provide some exotic meat if need be.

Once I look past the strewn corpses, the animals raging in cages, the blood lying everywhere, the human louse things that rove around, the haunted biome to our east, and the gloom that flows from there, Watchedgleam is a nice place. Friendly.

We're joined by Tryrar (how many's that now?), Bobnova, Roboboy, who admitted he's a vampire and sent himself to train in the vampire rooms...

As we have such a low population, Bobnova and Roboboy have joined me in working as masons and engravers.

Sent a message to Reudh. Shame for the nice updates so far if his turn has to get rerolled.
