Harvest Dwarf II: Little Dwarf on the Prairie [34.02]
« on: February 19, 2012, 02:37:10 pm »

In the arcane and long-forgotten early days of Lathonsul, the Mythical Realms...

In those bygone ages of the world, where the land lay cloaked in mystery and magicks...

When terrible beasts and fearsome daemons still stalked the darkened corners of the world..

Before the great emperors and magistrates raised their boundless stone halls under the vaunted peaks...

Still before the great warlords and goblin-kings of yore ever raised their vast armies for centuries of toil and endless bloodshed...

                                                                       There was only...

                                                                        HARVEST DWARF

Background

This point of Harvest Dwarf is to create a fully-functioning surviving medieval style agricultural community in Dwarf Fortress. This is the second iteration, the first was fairly successful and can be found here. In keeping with this theme, there will be various restrictions and goals which will be different from your average fort. These will be enumerated in the rules/goals section. Role playing is encouraged! Happy Farmin'!

Just post to get added to the mayor's/dwarfing list. If you don't begin your turn within 3 days of it being assigned, you will be passed over. Once you have started your turn, check in at least once per week, and finish your turn within 3 weeks. If you take longer or do not check in, you will be passed over.

Hmm. So where does the Dwarven Caravan come from then? And I'd like a Dwarf please. Call him Tasrak. Make him the town blacksmith.

Or, just give me a random farmer.

I'll assume that anyone who wants to be mayor'd also wants to be dorf'd, no?
Hmm. So where does the Dwarven Caravan come from then?

That, my friend, is what we call a plot hole.

I'll give it a turn but can some one dwarf me as the town cook/manager because I don't know how to dwarf people.   ::)

Edit: any male dwarf will do.

Your link back to the first Harvest Dwarf seems a little broken.

Anyhow, the prospect of taking a turn at this fort any time soon isn't looking so good. School's back in full force and I haven't had time to play Dwarf Fortress at all. Still, I wouldn't mind claiming a dwarf. Same requirements as before:

I'd like a hunter named Kirby. Custom Profession: Dragon Hunter. If there are no hunters, assign a random skill-less (or mostly skill-less) migrant to the profession. I'm sure I'll live for a good month lifetime.

I've added you two to the OP, and fixed the link. I've tacked on Broseph Stalin's name to the mayor's list for good measure, as he explicitly expressed interest in the last thread.

I don't see why not!  :D

In all honesty, though, there isn't very much labour specialization until later. For awhile it's going to be a mess of carpenters and woodcutters with people filling in odd jobs as we go along.

Then can you say it for my dwarf in the dwarfing list

Edit: Thanks :D

Well this is going great...  ::)

Had to cancel the first few embarks for various reasons, and now that I am finally ready, my most recent attempt spontaneously combusted.

I'm going to try again in the morning.

Well, the first post might take awhile as I can't seen to figure out to stop myself from embarking as humans.
