Most populated city
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:02:27 pm »

From the world I just generated for 0.34.02:
(medium world with custom params, stopped at year 377)

138: Sanasushsath, "Lovesilk", town
   Owner: The Sensitive Band, humans
Parent Civ: The Realms of Harvesting, humans
   9391 elves
   45 serpent men
   92499 humans  (!)
   18 olm men
   64 amphibian men
   18599 dwarves
   19 chickens
   2 horses

It is about 120000 population total! One sixth of the total civilized population in my world.
I am just preparing my Axedwarf adventurer, there is going to be a LOT of fighting to do. :)

What largest cities have you guys got in your worlds?

Can you at least share the save before you start pointlessly killing?

Not all of us live for the slaughter. I see great opportunities for trade.

How do you find this kind of data for your cities?

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Legends mode, civilizations.

Hmm I'm not seeing any data statistics for any of the civilizations and other entities, just pages and pages of history text that comes to an abrupt end at the bottom of the page. I wonder, is there an init setting or something you need to set beforehand to get the game to include this data in the legends info?

I’ve looked for it in Sites, Regions and Historical Maps as well, no luck.

Edit: Just genned a new world and think I figured out my problem. I commonly rename my save folders. After this gen, I noticed some region1 named text files in the core directory. Looks like you don’t want to rename your save game folders or you screw up any linking in the code.

Anyway this is one of the cities listed in the text file:

302: Urirspishab, "Tubsbristled", town
Owner: The Coalition of Calling, humans
Parent Civ: The Confederation of Blazing, humans
   1944 humans
   76 amphibian men
   75 serpent men
   19 cave fish men
   18 reptile men
   18 olm men
   51 elves
   266 dogs
   203 cats
   46 horses
   2 sheep
   298 pigs
   171 ducks
   2 llamas

Wonder if I can recruit some of those amphibian men as companions, may finally have some companions that can enter the water with me. Assuming of course they can even swim lol.

Not all of us live for the slaughter. I see great opportunities for trade.

1. You prefer TRADING to slaughter!? You deem killing in the name of dwarfdom POINTLESS!? Are you an Elf?
2. The save is 133MB.
3. Looking at the map of that city it is made 99% of gray boxes which seems to mean houseblocks. There is almost no shops in that city, so not much to trade. Seems logical that they had to fill whole city with houses and didn't have much space left for shops.

The city map:

How do you find this kind of data for your cities?
Select "Emport map/gen info" either in Legends mode or immediately after finishing worldgen. The open file named "region1-world_sites_and_pops.txt" or the like located in your DF folder.

I don't mind how big it is. I just want to explore it. There's bound to be plenty of vampires there.
