Movement trouble in sewers (DF not responding ever step)
« on: February 19, 2012, 05:12:51 am »

Got into a sewer and after ten secs or so of travel, every step i took caused the game to pause and go "program not responding". it recovers but every step takes forever, like 30 seconds at least. Why is this happening? above ground the rate is fine....

What's your processor speed?

Mine did this a little bit, like a second a move, I think due to the way the water movement has to be processed in certain areas (judging from what I've read of how the game works in old wiki entries). But I never approached 30 seconds, and only have a dual 3.0 proc.

They may not be visible. Or you may have walked under a busy marketplace. Or it may be funky water flows in sewer levels below you (or invisible to you).

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.
