Community Archive of Evil Rain/Mist Conditions
« on: February 18, 2012, 06:58:01 pm »

Well after embarking on a evil biome a mist cloud passed over. By Urist the dwarves had thankfully built underground already, because the mist shredded, literally just by passing over, sparrowmen to peices. So the question is what are the effects the new mists and rains bring?

You can't create an archive because they're procedural. There are up to 1000 different kinds created at world generation.  The list of effects would just be every permutation of the syndrome list.

I've got bitter filth, which begs the question what flavor is normal filth and who found that out.

It just seems to make everyone nauseous.

I got a Rain of Human Blood that some how resulted in fever, mass brusing of all limbs and organs followed by rapid suffication.
I lost that fortress twice in 5 min.

One of my rains caused blisters to appear on the body of my dwarves.

A minute after the blisters had appeared, the dwarves exploded.

I was all excited for the "Fetid Slime" rain to do something horrible to my dwarves... It gave them all a fever.... I think it slows them down a little bit and that's it, but the entire ground is covered in fetid slime from practically continuous showers.

Random elf:  We got acid rain!  It hastened the erosion of our beautiful clifface from a rate of one centimeter per thousand years to 1.3 centimeners per thousand years!  It was absolutely horrible!

~~~
You know, come to think of it, acid rain might just be an environmental problem that upsets dwarves, given that it dissolves their wonderful masonry, rendering it... *temporary*.
I know that dizzyness prevents your dwarfs from getting quality modifiers on the things they make, fever may do the same.
So far I've only ran into 3 different types, 1 rain and 2 fog/clouds. The rain I got was some kind of filth and all it seemed to do was cause a fever in the dwarves that came in contact with it. One of the fogs I got didn't seem to do anything, the other instantly turned creatures that came into contact with it into zombies.
The zombie fog fort didn't last long for me even though I kept everyone inside and came with trained axedwarves. I wasn't doing too bad until I decided to pasture my animals outside (one mule and one something else). The fog rolled in and caught the mule who then chased down my other animal. I stationed my military in my entrance hallway. The zombie mule came back and completely demolished everyone except for one child who ran screaming into another patch of the fog...
I had a mist that everyone spew blood out of every possible body part, it only took a year for most of the ground to be covered
I managed to get Loathsome Filth rained that burns stuff.  My food, my booze, my dorfs, all ended up on fire.  Ironic since I embarked on a glacier  :-*
