« on: February 18, 2012, 12:15:55 am »

Below ground animates, too.  Evil biomes come in flavors, depending on their savagery.  Lemme link you the answer.

http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/v0.31:Surroundings#Combinations_of_surroundings

I've gotten zombie variants of cavern beings.  The trouble is their miasma really clouds up play.  Not sure now if it does in this latest version, still spinning up worlds with it, haven't settled down and played in any yet.

Hunting and cage traps are very tough in evil biomes.  Not even sure they know where to put a cage with an undead variant in it?  As they are not on the stock list for stockpiles.  I end up just manually dumping my cages, or not using cages at all.

To conclude, yea, stuff below ground animates.  I'm on the hunt for an animated unicorn, but I doubt I'll find one, I have been dialing back the savagery in order to survive in split Good/Evil biomes.  I think Unicorns are a high savage critter, nonetheless, I'm still after him, and will post a screenie if I get or see an animated Unicorn wander on through.

Sincerely, Knutor

I think terrifying biomes only have evil rains, while haunted have undead and sinister the evil clouds, but I did not test it enough to know if it is always the case. The map I am currently playing on is a terrifying biome and I only got the evil rain.

I've tried several terrifying embarks and every time something dies, they turn into zombies. along with any body parts that may have been ripped off etc.

Then we can confirm its completely random then. I had deaths in my fortress without anyone coming back.

My sinister biome also has both reanimation and evil rain, so yeah. I think the only thing causing these effects is the evil part, and which ones happening is probably random.
