There's a story about an ancient general who gets shot in the eye in battle, immediately pulls that arrow out with his eyeball and eats it, screaming "I will not waste the blood and material of my mother and father", thus routing the enemy.

Wish we could do that in DF.

When you take out the arrow, make sure to 'e'at it for good measure!  (at the very least you'll lick it, ha)

Taking it out will probably cause you to bleed to death, just a quick heads up.

Yeah, if you pull it out you'll bleed all over the place for a few turns. I've never died from it though.

I had one adventurer with a copper pick lodged in his eye (from a goblin miner, I presumed) for I don't even know how long before I noticed it. So I don't think there is any ill effect from this, though it might get infected in the newer versions.

It can also be a liability if you encounter a wrestler or ettin or something, they can grab it and pull it out, causing you to bleed while arming them in the process.

I would definitely take it out. The wound can never heal while it's in there, making you more likely to get infected. You'll bleed profusely when pulling it out, which you can handle if you do it in a controlled situation---but if a wrestler pulls it out in combat, it could very well kill you. Unlike in real life, there is no risk of doing more damage by pulling it out.
