I think I may have found the FB blood responsible. Anyway to get rid of it or should I just wall the space off?

I think if you build a floor over it it goes away as well, but I'm not sure

I think that works too, but if I remember correctly, paved roads let you cover it from a safer distance, because the dwarves build them from the edge, and they can be bigger than 1x1 areas.

When embarking, is there a setting that can be changed so that NO layer information is shown? (eg, Little Soil, Deep Metals, etc)

I don't think so. You can however, just not show that tab when looking for a site.

Thank you Dutchling.

I had searched around but couldn't find anything, so guessed it wasn't possible. I might just cover that part of the screen when embarking then. :)

Feeling adventured don't you?

If it's possible come back and tell us how it went!

Im having a bit of a problem with my jail. I directed a pond down maybe 8 z levels so that I could make a well 1 z level above the pool for prisoners to drink from so they don't die of thirst. However, after a time, my prison gets flooded. I don't know how, and it's happened 3 times so far. Any ideas on what's happening?

water pressure? more water in the pool than you allow for in your artificial well, so it floods

Murky pools re-fill when it rains.  The extra water is probably coming in and flooding your reservoir.

A prison that periodically floods and kill every occupant? I don't see anything wrong as it sound very dwarfy, replace water with magma and it will be perfectly dwarfy.

Of Course! The water pressure! I can't believe I didn't think of it. The problem was that I had done the exact same thing with just 1 z level and it wasn't a problem, but of course it would now need to be taken into account. Also, when I made the channel into the floor for the well, the water didn't spill up. Huh. Weird. Anyways, I can't believe how detailed this game is. Thanks for the help. I guess I should build a pump to so I don't get overflow?

what is a good way to kill 100+ zombies and 2 necromancers?
A long snake of weapon traps filled with silver war hammers, with no vision from one line to another.

X as walls (not open space!)
. as trapped, walkable space.
Code: [Select]
XXXXXXXXX
X...X...X
X.X.X.X.X
X.X.X.X.X
X.X...X.X
XXXXXXXXX

To further explain: no vision means the necromancers will only reanimate a limited number of zombies. Eventually, through trap jamming or just being resilient enough to take a stroll through a trapped snake, zombies will reach the first U-turn.
Either necromancers follow them to enter the fortress (because they can't reanimate anything outside the snake) and die because traps, or necromances go away and give up siegeing.

How deep are deep metals? My shallow metals turned out to be Copper and Zinc and I have yet to find the deep metal.

On the steel > bronze > iron > copper scale, where do green glass trap components fall?
In other words, is a 5 green glass discs + 5 green glass spiked balls trap effective? If not, where does it stop being effective?
