If antmen don't have lungs, how do they use blowguns?

Hum.... Disarming goblins to use for training.... Sounds like a good idea :D I like it!

Is there any difference between Wooden Barrels, Stone pots, or clay/Porcelain Pots, besides value? I have the resources to make 5000 Porcelain pots so it seems like a good idea.

they still have conduits to get air from outside, that get pushed directly to their organs by muscles. This is how insects breath.

Refuse stockpile
« Reply #1144 on: April 07, 2012, 05:25:19 am »

OK, I have tried a lot of combinations, but no-one works perfectly.

So my problem: I have three refuse stockpile - one for unusable refuse (such as remains, teeth, foolish enemies corpses, etc.), one for usable refuse (such as bones, skulls, shell etc.) and one for butcherable corpses. What settings should have each stockpile?

I believe that one should enable bones only, one should enable corpses, and then you have to deselect one by one all non edible creatures, and one can have everything, but with the trick of the first two with 'take from pile' toward the third.

My question, is it possible to repack single bolt into stacks? If not, is a marksdwarf able to take 25 items made of a single bolt into his quiver, or he will never do that?

cool enough, perhaps I'll salvage these uranium-depleted HEAT APCR SABOT bolts then  :o

errr, I still see (and I saw that one year and many versions ago) dorfs without animal hauling enabled trying to repasture animals. In fact, this is my sole armorsmith, and he has a single labor, do armors (and if not, he can be idle). That's a problem...

I will try it and hope it will works.

My marksdwarf has in his quiver right now:
*dingo bone bolts [5]*
-dingo bone bolts [5]-
-dingo bone bolts [5]-
-dingo bone bolts [5]-
*monitor lizard bone bolt*
*dingo bone bolt*
(+<<bismuth bronze bolt>>+)

so it seems fine for me so far.

Memorial
« Reply #1150 on: April 07, 2012, 06:38:48 am »

I have another probelem here: In my fort is right now ghost of one farmer which, unfortunetely, has been smashed by bridge, so there is no body parts which can be burried. And when I want to engrave memorial of him, he is not in that list (I looked there about dozen times). How could I let him rest in peace?

it's a bug where people don't get reported dead even though their ghost is dancing around the dining hall.

DFHack - tweak clear-missing and he'll show up properly as dead in the casualty list and is ready to recieve his memorial.

What's the best way to raise your blacksmithing skill?   I have lots of lead for practicing... making lead chains doesn't seem to be raising this skill.  I tried statues, but they use too many bars for one product.

lead barrels? barrels are supposedly better than pots so you can dump the pots you made before on unsuspecting elf caravans

Chains are metalcrafting, not blacksmithing skill.

As you see, in theory, you could just build a lot of metal buildings and remove them, rinse and repeat.
Otherwise, pick something from the list on the wiki.
