You know what we could do with the (whatever beast name here, I forgot) we could make a double layer of thin leather, and then inside the leather have the bone plates that were removed from the skin glued together through resin, or latex. considering we are in the rainforest, even though it is after the apocolapse and most of the windlife is probably gone, we should still be able to obtian some form of natural adhesive. Actually nevermind because then the armour would ahve a great deal of natural weakpoints, even though you could probably walk around uncomfortably in it.

Better Idea, use the bone plates as crude chest and possibly face armour, have every other body part covered in leather. If the bone is just on your chest it won't ahve to flex and will function just as well as it did on those monsters for at least some time.

Lo and behold, as old ideas were crushed, so too were new ideas born.

for now lets just finish the week though.

I think this body armor thing may not be to useful.
How long until we have a forge working?
If it will be a few more weeks lets use that leather to make some good rope. We could then run that from the windmill and move the alternator to it.

the forge is working right now, we just don't' have good tools to do anything with the molten metal. (the robotics which came with it was broken.)

the original design for the windmill includes this - if we want to generate power, we could just move the alternator over.

hang on, about gas tanks - we have 1, it is just 1/2 full of gas ...

lets use all that gas, to store 800 power in the cap, then we've an empty tank which we can use for , err , "stuff"

Oh.. Thats great then. Why aren't we doing that currently to store up power?

I agree with using up that gas.
I think we should build our own capacitor to bring down into the bunker, or should we rip up our labs walls for power cable?

WRT to building  a capacitor / wiring in the bunker,
I'd go for neither for now, the bunker has it's own power supply which failed for some reason.

It's been what, 8 weeks, since we first evacuated from the bunker with nothing but some seeds ... I think we are doing quite well.

Besides, we only got our first electricity last week, and we have a total of 8 smelting operations + 1 every few weeks, it isn't much of a supply

Once we get the bunker powered up, we'll see what's in there

It was originally designed to be a nuclear survival bunker, so various computer chips, databases, machinery, etc ... will be in storage down there. (including power i suspect, i personally would not build a nuclear survival bunker without 2 power supplies and a very good supply of food.
if anything i see the reverse happening, where we run the lab of the bunker

re:armor,
ok, so it seems my armor plate idea isn't worth perusing, due to the material properties of the bone, oh well, in a month or two, once we get the nano-factory going, we'll make our own composite materials for armor plate (both ceramic-composites, or other multi-layered materials, would be easy to make)

re: finding the lab
nanobots can be used for so much more than raw manufacturing (eg can we pre-program them and drop them somewhere to make something big, could we have self-repairing powered armor, could we use them for advanced healing ... we'd need a lab to (re-)design extra equipment / nanobots to do this).

Personally i wouldn't mind a self-repairing fence ....
These aren't the nanobots you commonly find in science fiction. Ie as they are nanomachines, they're so small they can't contain any kind of processor or memory. They therefore aren't capable of memorising blueprints and such. Making something with nanobots involves giving them a base material with certain kinds of marking on.( Very small markings, using atoms and monecules) different kinds of nanobots then go and attach different kind of molecules to the plate. This allows you to efficiently construct very complicated and small things, and also use them to make certain chemicals and molecules, but nothing very fast.

eg can we pre-program them and drop them somewhere to make something big:
These things don't have any mind or memory, they can only react to the most  basic of patterns.

could we have self-repairing powered armor
Sure, they could start building whenever they have contact with air or so. Just don't expect them to repair large amounts of damage. ( TIny cracks yes. Giant holes: No)
could we use them for advanced healing
Considering they are basically electronical proteins, Yes.
we'd need a lab to (re-)design extra equipment / nanobots to do this).
The nanofactory can create nanobots for each task, given enough processing power.

Is the plan up to date ?

edited instructions for the week; just the scientists make tools and new wheelbarrows rather than blueprints for said tools, and we turn on the power generator, let it run all week to charge the capacitor.
Also, we turn on the electric fence.

How big is the gas tank?

(on a critical success on the lab search, can we find the labs supercomputer, not just a basic circuit board for the nano factory, or is the circuit bored special enough to require a major success to get by itself?)

--
new item for the to-do list:
find the labs supercomputer - if more processing power allows us to do better things with the nano-factory, then lets throw a huge amount at it.

Well I think the previous near crit succes netted you the nanofactory, so it might give you something like that.

Wait wouldn't the capicitor disipate energy over time as waste heat? So shouldn't we just keep the gas in our tank till we really need the power instead of just burning it all now and losing a percentage of it over time? Sure we gain a container but for what? water, would be a decent use but couldn't we just make some crude continers in the electric furnace then, of lesser quality then the gas tank. We will need the gas tank later on to hold the air when we go into the bunker, with or without Nitrates to help us.

The capacitor doesn't seem to leak over time ; atleast our 205 didn't leak any (started with 200, added 5, ended the week with 205).

Well, i think we should start burning the gas now - it will take us 4 weeks to empty it and charge the capacitor - in 4 weeks i aim to be ready to start entering the bunker (construct the mechanism to compress gas, and any other tools we would need). At the moment, we don't have any other use for the gas, but in a few weeks we'll need it for an air supply.

This depends on 2 things being true: (and it would seam so)
1) is the tank small enough to move by cart?
2) our capacitor does not leak.

also, what is the capacity of our furnace - ie, how many resources of melted scrap/smelted ore does our 100 electricity get us?

You can move the tank by cart(Though you can't carry it down stairs or anything. Not easily anyway) and your capacitor doesn't leak.( Since I don't want to keep track of that).

Your furnace can process 10 resources a week. This can be increased to 15 if you add some people to it. Also , the main problem with repowering the bunker is that there are no power cables near the surface.( To prevent the nuclear EMP's for damaging the bunker)

Turn soon.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The engineers and builders make good progress, and manage to finish the kitchen and repair the anti vehicle defenses. The windmill has been connected and the whole thing is ready for businnes.

The farmers have quite a lot do . Ie they have to gather 2  plots and replant another.( Seems like there's a communication problem somewhere).

The scientists in the lab don't find any spare parts, as those 've long been stolen. They do manage to find an Oscilloscope though, hidden under a shelf. The scientist has no idea how to make any precise inductive apparature out of scrap.

The guard scavenges the last scrap metal. To your suprise, there's nothing hidden underneath.

The scientists don't get very far on their large task list. They only got as far as to make a mold for gas tank. (Ie 2 pieces then weld/melt them toghether.) They made a large one( equal to the gas container) which would use 5 reclaimed metal(ak molten scrap metal) and are carryable one which would cost 2.

The engineers meanwhile make another 5 crude axes.

The wood cutting expedition results in:

-25 trees chopped down and taken to the camp.( +25 resources, + 250 food(100berries+150 bark)
-1 sattelite transmitter( Found near the remains of a dead expedition)
-6 resources salvaged from the carts. Something had come before us and mostly destroyed them.
The path to the lake is more or less cleared.

Other group: Arrived: Looking for more good deals.
15 soldiers(  10 armed)
5 engineers
6 drivers
4 civilians( including leader)

Ok, the traders can leave immediatially (start of the week), taking with them our entire food stock (we have vegies next week), given that they were short on food, we don't want to hold them up any more

:4 week trade, 15%+80(f)ood,40(g)rain

they take 570f,275g,200(b)ark
theirs: 153f,75g,30b
ours: 417f,200g,170b for trade

if they can charge their cars very quickly, offer them 50 energy as a gift.
when they arrive, give a gift of 50 food, 50 grain

we are interested in:
metal ores of , iron, copper, any ore containing neodymium (  Monazite , which is found in Brazil would open all sorts of opportunities for !Fun!),
salt,
wire,
any AT weapons,
gas tanks, full or empty
metal scrap

we are also interested in recruiting people; preferred skills: metalworkers / people who understand the ore / engineers in general / scientists / farmers / soldiers (well anyone i guess ...). As we have demonstrated that we can have a large surpless of food, and can protect ourselves, we may get a few people (we arn't going to rebuild civilization with 95 people).
Inquire if a trade liason would be able to visit, with the aim of forming a long term trade deal.
Offer smelting service for 20% of the ore, 10% if they supply a gas cylinder also. (our friend traders get 10% of the ore, when we do smelting work for them, i am  expecting the traders to have something to offer us when they arrive)

<post for this weeks activities for 95 people to follow>
