so you're thinking a guy who has only retained control over a bandit group by being the toughest bad ass they know should be defeated by a guy who is simply born strong.

More it's a problem with classification. You say "bandit" you think some semi-trained neer-do-well. And demi-gods are not simply "born strong" they have enough points to make them legendary right out of the box.

So yeah, I do sort of see a problem with that. If you've got the power and the skill to kill a demi-god, bandit or even bandit chief seems inappropriate. Warlord seems a little more accurate.

Yeah, I'm really okay with the occasional (occasional, it happens too often at the moment..) badass that has killed a hundred people, with the fighting skills to match, surviving world gen. Thing is this guy shouldn't be leading a couple thugs around ambushing fresh adventurers outside some backwater hamlet. He should be sitting in a castle somewhere surrounded by the riches of his illustrious career, or lurking in his secret lair in the depths of the sewers, he should have dozens of lesser minions he can send out to do the ambushing for him. It's not that there's something wrong with the existence of such a legendary bandit warlord, there's just something wrong with his illogical and unexpected placement within the game.

If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. As a bandit warlord, you know that most bandits are half-trained morons with a bit of leather and a rusty sword. You know they'll cheat you at every turn, get murdered by roving adventurers and piss away the loot on booze. You gotta be there to keep some semblance of order in place and enforced.

Yeah, the superbandits are pretty hard to kill. Even the overlord/captain/boss's pawns are really fucking good dodgers now.

You become a good dodger or you die from a mug smashing your skull in at mach 12 due to your boss being drunk.

FUCKIT I'm modding in a new terminator race and taking it to the goddamn bandits.
I like this sentiment.

Except instead of 'half-trained morons with a bit of leather and a rusty sword', they're bloodthirsty, unscathed, veteran murdering bastards that still only have a bit of leather and a rusty sword with a craving for new adventures' bits of leather and rusty swords as well. So the bandit chiefs are just 'fuck it, I'll gank too. Nothing better to do..."

I think we need to give bandits things to do other than kill everything.

When a bandit team ambushes you and the leader spawns right next to you and threatens you, does the game ignore your defensive rolls or something? Every single time a bandit crossbowman leader spawns next to me he shoots me in the leg 100% right after he threatens me and brings me down, which always gets me killed.

Must...resist....Skyrim....joke.....

I dunno, how many actual test cases do you have? Because I'd be willing to gamble his archer skill trumps your dodge by a good margin. And since it's a bolt, you're pretty much screwed on impact.

this happened to me on my most successful adventurer yet.

i thought "damn, im going to have to retire"

then i realized that retirement ment you were basically a town guard.

then i thought, "hey i was an adventurer, but then..."

What
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
he said.

You know who else was a demigod? Cuchulain. Gilgamesh. Hercules. They may have had plot armor, but this based itself on their demigod-ness. If a goddamn bandit chief is going to be killing a demi-god, he would need plot armor himself- demigods just don't get killed without fate getting involved.
They don't have above average attributes. They don't have high attributes. They have superhuman attributes.
Diction is everything.
Demigods as they are now aren't demigods. Not even really 'heros' if every damn bandit in the world is about as tough as 'im. They're just some smuck born tough with a giant bullseye on their back.

Said beautifully Grizz

My point is, every goddamn regular bandit is stronger than you now. So its basically Impossible to win a skirmish. I like hard, hard has its !!FUN!!, but impossible just makes me not want to play. I don't mind unstoppable godcrushing killing machines, but not every 3 steps! And not every single enemy! Look at worldgen, bandits are killing all the megabeasts by year 200! Cmon, this is just stupid.

right now, with bugs, it is impossible to play the game realistically. But it is still quite playable if you grind up sneak, throwing and wrestling, or take full iron armor from a fort and fight boogeymen in the streets every night. my legendary swordsman uses a wooden training sword, them lays down and blocks all the boogeymen attacks and raised his swordsman and shield user to legendary.

I think it really is about the diction. I'm not sure I even like the idea of being a demi-god. After a while you have a world full of demi-gods, retired or dead.
Maybe we should have more 'mundane' titles - not even 'hero'.

Peasant
Squire
Veteran

Or something?

I like it. I want to play a demigod, not a smuck.
