Adamantine spires no longer appear to grow up from the SMR sea,
with just one cavern, ever.
Testing Advanced Worldgen Parameters
with one cavern:
z above ground : 2 (this is the number of layers of 'sky' above the highest surface layer)
z above layer 1: 24 (this is the number of layers between the surface and the top of the first cavern)
z above layer 2: 2 (this is the number of layers from the bottom of the first cavern to the top of the SMR sea)
z above layer 3: 2 (this appears to have no effect with just one cavern)
z above layer 4: 2 (this appears to have no effect with just one cavern)
z above layer 5: 32 (this is the semi-molten sea depth, with the adamantine spires/tubes in it)
z at bottom : 2 (this appears to have no effect with just one cavern)
So it gets laid out thusly, with 2/24/2/2/2/32/2:
sky
surface
24 "normal" layers
cavern
32 layers of SMR sea
bottom/hell
I've tested 2/24/99/2/2/99/2 on several dozen world gens, and while there is consistently adamantine, the spires/veins/tubes
-NEVER- grow higher than the SMR sea.
If someone else has observed differently, please, post your worldgen parameters that has adamantine higher than the SMR sea, for 34.05.
Additionally, using 'prospect hell' on the "Choose Fortress Location" screen, prior to embarking, does NOT show RAW_ADAMANTINE, for me. I must embark and 'reveal hell' to see it. Even after embarking to verify the presence of RAW_ADAMANTINE, and going back to the exact same location, 'prospect hell' or 'prospect all' does not show any adamantine, despite it being there, 100% verified.
I only mention this because other users have claimed these commands will show RAW_ADAMANTINE under the Ores category, prior to embark with 'prospect hell'. Doesn't work that way for me.
Personally, I like this change in worldgen from previous versions, as it's more consistent, and there is more control over where you're going to get/find adamantine. However, it was kind of fun to occasionally get the odd spire breaking it's way into the caverns, or even growing through them, in 31.25.
I will continue testing with 3 caverns to see if things are different. I started testing with
one cavern as that was my preferred worldgen style in 31.25.
