Could someone share a save with sponges present? I've failed to find any of those.

Everyone dies. :P

I accidentally did this while testing some spells in arena mode. I intended to use some sea sponges as target practice, but it turns out they wanted it the other way around. Didn't last ten seconds.

New test : see how lethal you can make giant sponges by changing two tags  :P

Changing aquatic to amphibious and adding large_predator, maybe ?

I think I might have accidentally figured out how to weaponize a sponge in a roundabout way. When I channeled the tile that a Giant Sponge was on from directly underneath it, the sponge moved one tile to the west instead of falling. So it should be possible to capture one in a cage trap by moving it with this method. After getting it in a cage it should just be a matter of placing the sponge in a good location. Sponges can air drown, so you have to take that under consideration.

Mayby you could use it as a disco-ball in your dining room.

EDIT:
I discoverd an intresting arena quirk about sponges, it looks like in a single arena session they have one color, the first time i tested they were all red, but i left my fps cap a bit high, so i turned it off changed the cap and turned it back on, now they are all blue.

EDIT2:
Nvm.

EDIT3:
These things are scary, i put 35 full candy dwarves w/ candy battleaxes up against 64 sponges, one sponge died due to airdrowning near the waterfall in the arena, a few dwarves have bled out. God, even martial trances do nothing against these beasts.

Are zombie sponges still immobile?

Hey, can you coax them onto bridges momentarily and then fling them at sieges?

Sponges air drown and for the most part are immobile, so catapulting them via a bridge wouldn't help much even if you actually managed to pull it off. I think it could theoretically work if the siege in question was travelling through water via amphibious mounts though.

Oh Luna, sponges... What I like to do is do surgical magmadrops onto them.

If you haven't built a gladiator pit to drop your captured foes into and then pelt the survivors with wood/bone bolts/water/magma/exploding barrels(exploding barrel does minimal if any damages :<), you are not a dorf.
