Permanently Unlocked Caverns?
« on: February 17, 2012, 01:04:35 am »

I've generated a few forts within one world now...

In the first fortress, there was a soil layer of red sand. That sand stayed with nothing grown on it until I unlocked the caverns, at which point it started growing underground moss and grass and trees, just like normal.

But in later fortresses, as soon as I start digging into underground soil, way before caverns get pierced, I start to see the same sort of underground tree and shrub growth. I had nethercaps before I even got to a rock layer in my most recent fort.

So it seems now that once the caverns are "unlocked" for a world, any fortress experiences the same effects of being exposed to the spores.

Has anyone else experienced this?

nope, but it would kinda make sense, as dwarves would likely have some on them without thier known and some might even drift until they settle in a suitable place.

Well, if it's warm and moist, moss would do that anyway.
