It just won't die

I have a weasel zombie missing all of its limbs, and everything else in the red.  On the units screen it says "opposed to life."  Can I kill it?  It's been quite a while and my dwarfs are now legendary fighters, but they're getting thirsty.

What are you hitting it with? If I understand right, hammers and maces are supposed to be best against zombies now. Hacking just cuts them up and gives you more zombies, if you're in the wrong biome.

Also - why would you want to get rid of it? Keep it, level more dwarves up on it! Possibly even all your dwarves - imagine: a whole fortress of invincible champions!

Then attack the circus. With everyone.

I just embarked.  They're using their fists, and every single one of them will not stop fighting.  They punched all the zombie's limbs off (and ears and tail), but they just can't seem to finish the job.  :(

Though I do like the idea of having "training" zombies.  Will try later.

So far this has been the only embark I've almost successfully survived on in an evil biome.  I don't want to have to abandon before exhausting all other possible options.

Maybe next time I can try a bear.  But I feel like the bear would also just attack the zombie torsos incessantly...
