Controlling the undead stampede

I embarked on a two-biome square, one untamed wilds, one haunted.

It seems that corpses in the non-evil biome won't reanimate, but I still get a fair amount of zombies pouring in from the other biome: four raven corpses flew into my fort, then killed my dogs.  Eventually, I killed all four, and they were dumped into my emergency unloading stockpile (to unload the wagon in a hurry, I designate a massive stockpile that accepts EVERYTHING).  So far, over a month has passed and they won't reanimate.

For the moment, maybe this is the best viable workaround to limitless undead: find at least one square of the embark that isn't evil, set up shop there, and keep the corpses there.  You'll still get undead, but at least you'll have a safe spot for your initial fortress, and time to get a military and proper quarantine measures in place for expanding into the evil biome.

be a real dwarf . hide in a hole till the bad things go away or till your such a bad ass you can make them go away.

On the contrary, on one of my mid-mature forts I had a dump that dropped corpses and refuse directly into my nearest evil biome square. It got chopped to pieces by were creatures. Lovely.
