I think wells clean water so that probably won't work.  Maybe store your food without barrels and drop the vampire from a great height.  I recommend testing blood splatter with something less valuable first.

That's actually a misconception, people think wells clean water because dwarves will drink contaminated water sources from them, if you use t to examine the bucket you'll see that it's filled with contaminants.

Lock it in a room with a catapult at one end, a ballista at the other and a shaft from above. The catapult is to train siege op, the ballista is for defence and the shaft is to drop more arrows down.
