Currently trying to test out what all there is for myself with a disturbingly successful Fort.

EDIT: Also, this Fort is using Togas as its primary Trade-Good. Pig-tail Togas. I plan on equipping each of my military-dwarves with a Toga, as a sign of office.

Oh, man, this is an AWESOME idea!
What EXACTLY does the rain do?! Does it rot off the skin? Melt the fat? IS IT AN ALTERNATIVE TO SCALDING YOUR DWARVES WITH MAGMA-MIST?!?!
Blisters and paralysis. It breaks your spinal cord and you suffocate. I'm pretty sure the clouds rot your skin off but death comes too swiftly.
Embark and find out.  Let there be science.
Explain to me how to send the little men into the pornography-sphere and you may have them.

It's procedurally generated. Random. Could do nothing. Best case scenario, melts your Dwarf's eyes out.

I can only imagine the fearful stories woven by the neighboring cities: A place where the blood snows, the dead walk, and the very gods weep tears of foul corruption upon the world. A forsaken and unholy land where even the bravest or most insane adventurers would think twice of before entering. Traders, thieves, and invaders alike all lay broken and in a hideous form of unlife.
The dwarves of my fort have a small tower in the area with a covered balcony that they sip beer on while they watch the landscape.

This is Dwarf Fortress. Where torture, enslavement, and murder are not only tolerable hobbies, but considered dwarfdatory.

I had a good one genned just now, but for some reason DF crashed whenever I tried to abandon the fortress to quit. I'm guessing it's similar to the issue people are having with Adventure Mode - too much history, too big of a map. I'm trying to recreate it in a medium world.

Downloaded.  First action: Abandon, then make a fort just nearby.  Eyeball grass and fast-raising corpses are everywhere.  embarked with 5 soldiers with swords and shields, 5 copper blades and 5 copper shields.  Started digging, ordered them to sit underground at the entrance, in what will later be their barracks while the others got busy digging out a living zone and farm area, as well as getting everything underground.  I now have a Giant Louse Head Chitin and Giant Louse Head loitering in the entrance, being killed every few dwarf-hours by my calm soldiers.

I shamefully came with only 5 plump helmet spawn, as I anticipated strawberries being available.  Going to struggle to get some food upright, but I did embark with booze and some meat, so all is not hopeless.

My fort is currently open, anything may path in, and a meeting zone is declared.  No freakish rain yet, but I'm prepared to burrow on first sight.

I don't think I've observed bad rain and mist in the same biome.

The zombies have won via attrition.  One by one my civilians died, until my last sworddwarf... oh migrants!

I seek to own the wilds, not to cower and hide.

I've learned a lot.  Lost my migrants quickly, crumbled to my end.  Re-embarking with renewed vigor and some knowledge of zombies.
