custom creature problem, 31.25-34.01
« on: February 15, 2012, 10:18:09 pm »

I have a custom creature I just made with the help of people here.  I finished it the day before 34.01 came out.  So I put the creature and it's custom tissues into the raws and hoped it would work.

And it didn't.  The pet shows up as usual, but when I unpause the game the creature bleeds to death.  No reports on what happened.  The creature is covered completely in minor wounds for the short time before it dies.

I can't tell what was changed between the versions.  I compared the material templates for the two custom tissues and their base templates (scale and bone) and there's no difference other than the values and a couple specific use-of-material tags, like [IMPLIES_ANIMAL_KILL].

The tissue templates are also the same, minus the removal of [SCARS] and [VASCULAR:1] from one of them.

I even compared the custom creature and the one it was based on, and the only differences I could see were the removal of things that weren't needed in my creature, like fire breath.  Including special attention to the BODY_DETAIL plans.  Which weren't different other than a change to how toes were labled and a tongue.

Other animals, like the wagon pullers, don't die.  Just my drakes.  What could be causing this?

There were some tag changes regarding how creatures are put together.  You'll want to post the creature raw and the error log text for people to pick apart what should be changed.

Does the error log say anything about any of your tags?

Ok, THAT can be helpful.  Didn't know what the errorlog was.

Unfortunentally, all it says is it doesn't recognize the colors the drake has.  I'll have to change that.

It mentioned the changes to the toes I needed to do as well, but I'd already fixed that, and it doesn't show up anymore.

Since it was death by bleeding, and you did alter the VASCULAR status of one of its tissue templates, post up the custom templates you used?  Maybe there was an unintended result there...

As to the vascular part, it was the scale template.  And I already added it back to it once, and it did nothing so I removed it again.

Sorry for the bump, but has anyone figured this out?
