Getting the job cancellation spam "item inaccessible". No way to track said item. Slowly going mad.

Yeah, I think I'll stick to 2010. At least until Dwarf Therapist and DF Hack are available. I'll just mod the raws for taming exotics. Also, here's a link to the unofficial patch, which fixes a few things, just in case anyone needs or wants it. Many thanks to the folks who put it together.

And I believe Meph fixed the whips by increasing their contact area. I'm downloading his mod to copy the raws on that. And i believe you can fix kobold extinction by editing out BONECARN from their raw (obviously must be done before you generate your world.) Also, for those having problems with mounted enemies, edit MOUNT_EXOTIC from the raws of the problem creatures.

Hope this helps others who are sticking with 2010 for awhile.

Is it a good sign that I can manage my 200 dorf fort perfectly fine without Therapist?

Nah, I honestly don't like therapist. I can't say I run my fort well, but I don't actually need it.

I used to use DT all the time but gave it up after some release when I didn't feel like waiting for it to be updated (after the original creator dropped it), haven't gone back.. Its a great program and it makes micromanaging the game much easier, that said it actually reduces my enjoyment I've realized since I end up trying to make my fort work perfectly.  Not using it is more relaxing, sure I have no real organization with my professions but the fortress still run perfectly well (even at high populations).

Never use DFhack (I used to use it when cleaning was broken but that seems to be a thing of the past).

Not trying to brag, but I think its worth countering the (common) idea that DF is 'unplayable' without using third party utilities.

As for bugs; I haven't checked the specific things mentioned but I haven't found any major bugs (aside from Giant Mosquitoes..) and certainly nothing game-breaking.  To the contrary cleaning seems to work better, I love how the units screen is organized, and the game's new features seem to work well.

Don't get me wrong, its not as if there are no bugs, but nothing that has caused issues for me, though I've only been playing the new version for a short while.

I can deal with most of the bugs. I can even play without Dwarf Therapist. But when SIEGE after SIEGE of goblins, humans and elves show up and SIT on the edge of the map for 3 years, I get annoyed. REALLY ANNOYED.

I can handle my large gems forever hanging out in workshops or trade depots. I can handle the whip users being Jedi Knights. I can handle no caravans, no kobolds and clothing usage code being innane. But the damned pathing problem needs to be fixed. Even if it is just Toady removing the [mount_exotic] tag himself.

I guess what bothers me most is that so many of these things are easily fixed by the developers. But still.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

What about the lye+stagnant water in bucket bug? will they empty the stagnant water before putting lye in it? this one is my most hated bug because it prevents soap making if you don't micro-manage the bucket stockpiles.

The game is playable with or without Dwarf therapist. I'm proof of that.

You obviously found a new species of smart kobold.
Way to go, you killed the only smart kobold's to have existed.
See? Not everyone avoids you!

Lol! Anyone can play WITHOUT Dwarf Therapist. It just means they have more time on their hands. I'm much more interested in bugs being fixed than Toady working on a better GUI, though.

I guess I'm kindof with the op of this thread.  The whole new patch is nice and will setup for some good future updates, but I kindof would rather that some of the current bugs get fixed rather than adding a bunch of new content and introducing more bugs we have to find ways to work around.  I almost think Toady should have included bug fixes for the top 20 bugs or something with each realease...

I can confirm that a naked child claimed a pig-tail robe with no prompting from me.  In fact, children are claiming all of my newly made clothes.  Still unsure if adults replace clothes; I wasn't really intended to clothe them, but I noticed it when all the pig tail robes decorated with orthoclase cachobons that I intended to trade off were vanishing.  Will test more when nudity starts to spread to adult dwarves.

However, they don't seem to want to claim anything that came from a corpse; just newly made stuff. Might have to do with decay, or claiming persisting longer than the 'claimed' tag does.
