Little bits of Ascimator

That's where I will put some epic-ish parts of my forts and adventures. English is not my mother tongue, so feel free to tell me if there are any mistakes.
Disclaimer: Some bits may not look epic in the eyes of some of the users.

The fall of the Perplextombs, part 1
***
Perplextombs was one of the first fortresses The Squeezing Diamonds founded. Led by Iton Copperfinger, the group of seven dwarves embarked on the only volcano in the surroundings at year 5 AU (After Urist). The industry went pretty well, and soon the fortress hit a population of 50 - four farms could feed them all, and lots of barrels were filled with booze. The copper was struck very early, though the lack of coal allowed to arm up two members of the military only. Eventually the magma smelter was built, but Iton, due to his and everyones' dorfy nature, did not buy another anvil before. The only anvil in the fort mysteriously disappeared in the incident involving unthought deconstruction of the forge and some hauler. Bars began filling up the bins without use.
Some most creative dwarves were soonly taken by the fey, producing a bone ring and the golden amulet with the engraved image related to the foundation of Perplextombs. The latter one, though, was not so respected due to possessive nature of his work. The blacksmith was struck by the imagination too, but with no forge, he went insane eventually.
The humans arrived with their goods. Iton ran to the depot with haste, ordering random dorfs to haul some encrusted crafts in. He was heavily disappointed with the lack of anvils and went back downstairs.
Then it happened. "An ambush! Curse them!"
The new shiny drawbridge was recently tested. The 2-dwarf squad ran past it to the pack of 5 goblins. Ambushers grinned, four of them swinging their hammers anticipatingly. One of the soldiers apparently decided to take a pee back there, so the militia commander ran only to be lashed down and hammered to his death. The goblins proceeded, killing off the axedwarf near the gate. Iton, sighing, pulled the lever.
Some single civilians ran out, dying right away. Goblins rushed inside. At the trade depot, about forty angry dorfs were waiting for them, accompanied by the human guard armed with the crossbow.
Ambushers were quickly outnumbered. More and more punches were not given back, the crossbowman stood at the side constantly unloading at goblins, one of the enemies was tangled up with the carpenter, the stonecrafter punched through the skull of the unsuspecting lasher, and the improvised defense was led by the legendary creator and miner of the fort, trusty pick in hand. Goblins were stomped quickly.
But with so many deaths and the complete devastation, Iton was sure the end began.

There is a finely-engraved image of Ascimator on the wall. Ascimator is slapping himself in the face. The artwork relates to the loss of the only anvil in Perplextombs in the late winter of 6.
