Thank you! Another question rounds my head... Never I found a book, but... You can read the entire story inside the book? Or only can read the title? Thank you!

Several questions.  I'm not exactly a newbie, but with the new release and all, I still have trouble.  It's like relearning adventure mode.

1. What's the best way to find a vamp in adv. mode?

2. What is best used to kill a vamp in adv. mode?

3. How do I become a vamp in adv. mode?

4 What are the differences between being a human and vampire in adv. mode?

1: Asking for quests

2: Any sharp weapon

3: You have to drink the blood of the vampire

4: Undead don't attack you and I think healing is slightly different.

I was doing my first quest when I was stopped from traveling by a Necromancer. I killed him as he was alone, and grabbed a named slab he was carrying. Now as I travel, every time I kill something the slab seems to create another version of itself. I can sell the slabs for a great deal, and also when I aim my attack on a creature I can choose to use the slabs (which I am holding all in my right and left hands) to attack with. Also my character cannot read.

Question: Is this normal? What am I doing when I use these to attack?

Thanks for any insight. Also feel free to just link me to the thread that explains this that I was too blind to find.

You dont actually need to put them into quivers actually I think, but you can use 'p' to put them into a container - i.e. quiver. And I dont believe you need to be wearing it either.

I know I havent been paying attention to whether or not Im wearing mine, but I just [p]ut arrows/bolts into it when I find them around.

My 'original' bronze bolts got out of their quiver and I can't get them back in.

I can (p)ut my bolts into two bags I'm carrying but the quiver is not presented as an option. I've tried various combinations of the quiver being worn, not worn, held in hands, etc.

Because these are 'original' bolts they act differently? Just started out as adventurer and I haven't found any other bolts in game either in shops or dropped by NPCs so can't test this theory out yet.

Thanks, Mimir.

Starting stats also dictate your max stats. A peasant will have a lower attribute ceiling than a demigod.

Can I get confirmation on this? I've looked around the wikis and no-one mentions it, or I've missed it. Not really doubting, just want to make sure. I like starting as a peasant but I don't want to be gimped forever (I mean, I'll die way before that, but I'd like to think I could max as well as anyone).

just tried out Adv mode for the first time, and I love it. I made four or five characters, all died on their first battle interaction, including a confrontation with a cow. Lots of bandits and bogeymen.

But how do I survive? I really don't know much about adventure mode, and I am still learning the key bindings, etc. My character profile is still very random. Just what I feel like putting points in at the spur of the moment.

I haven't been able to even find the places people send me on quests to. I head that way and find nothing. Either by [T]ravelling or regular walking.

Any suggestions?

Agility and dodge are both pretty important.

To find places you gotta shift+Q then hit z to see if on the superzoomedoutmap it's where you are or next to it. it'll change slightly unless it's nearby

if it's nearby then > to zoom in, you'll see the direction you need to head in the upper left corner, it'll start changing drastically when you get near the hole (either in the ground or in a wall). go in the hole and kill the unarmed peasant.

you'll likely see one thing in the upper left with the direction indicating that it's the current mission, but you might see another icon appear that is the same... so there is likely another hole nearby as well. so far in my experience every other hole or so has a few decent pieces of armor in it.

then head back to town and *oshitalion* reroll a new character and start all over again cause a lion ate you

btw thirst and hunger are debilitating and it looks to me like berries doesn't help hunger, or maybe something's broke, but once you're really bad off hungry you can't walk fast and a lion'll fuck you up

Drinking/eating one unit of food doesn't insta cure you of hunger or thirst anymore, you need to eat/drink multiple units

Don't know if some food stuffs provide more nutriment or not

Just to avoid confusion, the peasant/hero/demigod should be called baby/child/youngster :P. All bandits are more skilled than you when you start.

Downloaded .02 version and made first adventurer (Human Bowman).

But I am unable to butcher the corpse of a Cavy Boar though all my .01 adventurers had no problem butchering.

I've tried all the permutations of dropping and getting and putting, both the corpse and the large copper dagger.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mimir.

Update: Was able to butcher second corpse (a giraffe) but still can't butcher Cavy.

Cavies are very small, too small to produce any meat when butchered, so I think the game simply refuses to let you do it in adventure mode.  I had similar problems with a buzzard corpse, even though buzzards can sometimes produce meat.

It's also possible that this is simply a bug, since you ought to be able to butcher the cavy for the skull at least (although that doesn't help you any with your food situation).

In any case, you should have no problems with larger corpses, like the giraffe corpse you said you butchered.

Yep. From the wiki:

Quote
Attribute Advancement Cap
Adventure mode attributes are capped at double the starting value or the starting value plus the racial average, whichever is greater. Humans, for example, have a racial average strength of 1,000. If a human adventurer starts with an above average strength of 1,100, then his strength will ultimately be capped at 2,200. Had this human started with a below average strength of 900, then his strength would be capped at 1,900 instead. For the purpose of maximizing final attributes, this makes it important to start with as many attributes in the superior range as possible (more attributes per point allocated), while avoiding taking any penalties to even remotely important attributes (big attribute deductions per point recovered). As a consequence of the attribute cap, demi-god adventurers will always have a much higher potential for advancement than mere peasants and heroes.

And yeah, I feel your pain. If I hadn't read that when I started playing adventure mode, I imagine I'd be playing peasants more often these days.
