The Golden Age
« on: February 15, 2012, 12:38:52 am »

I... I never thought, and of all version....

I saw a the world gen into the golden age....
After nothing but hearing of horror from the evil biomes... HOW THE HELL CAN SUCH A THING HAPPEN!? Dwarves not killing elves?
Goblins not being maimed in sieges? BLASPHEMY!!!

Taking all bets to how long it will be before I try to decimate at least one race. I'm gonna dwarf up, and kill anything that loves trees or stands above 5 even that comes to my fortress.

I was messing around in adventure mode and I saw dwarves and elves living and selling in the same town. That's just wrong.

Remember how Elephants used to be marauding killing machines? Ja, now Dwarves and Elves can coexist.

Yay 0.34.01!

Atleast my world's 'Golden Age' didn't last too long in world gen :).

Also, is it just me, or in this version the ages have a far larger chance to change?

I got 3 Golden Age worlds in a row. The worst part is that they wouldn't end!

I long for the day in which I get a world that all nations war all nations...

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.

Golden Ages are easily fixed in Dwarf Mode.

Age of Armageddon: Every  nation is at war with one or more nations, and folks are dying left and right in battle, while the remnants of the great powers just sit back and laugh. It is a time of great war heroes who fight for thier nations and lead thier armies.

I got "The Dwarven Age" on my first world gen.....And there are no Elves in the world.

Finally.... World gen takes care of them for us. Intresting note, I was able to bring surface crops since my civ had several forest retreats owned by them. I find this quite a nice thing, but if it's a bug, it's a bug that needs to stay.

When I found my world started on the golden age, I stood back, deleted the save, sat in agony and ramped up the megabeast population dramatically.

As far as I'm concerned, I can just use FBs. No way in hell were they all killed.

And the others speak the truth... Although whittling away the tree findlers one caravan at a time is rather tedious.... On the plus side, the bins you can't seel can be constantly reused!

I've found several coalitions of humans + elves + dwarves living and working in the same towns. Some "human" towns have had nothing more than elves in them. It's weird.

Hmm. I'm geussing these must be results of conquest. Though I am getting an abnormally homicidal urge now.

Conquered nations sometimes become slaves to the conqueror, I've had goblin slaves all over a dwarven keep in one of the adventurers I died on.
