Convenient Water Storage
« on: February 14, 2012, 11:11:10 pm »

Cool! New release!
...
I have to drink already?
...
I have to drink again?
...
I only can hold 3 water?

Was how it went. So, I thought "I gotta get some more waterskins". Looks like shops don't sell waterskins. Hmm... what now. I get an idea. I walk up to a food shop, see they have a barrel. I try to trade for it, but you can't trade shop owner's barrels. So I look at the barrel, and it doesn't have $$ on it. So, I shrug, and walk off with it. They don't seem to mind. I walk over to the well, fill the bucket, and try filling the barrel. it works. It takes the entire bucket of water. I try filling it again, it works.

So far, I've loaded up the barrel with 60 units of water and I'm still filling it. And getting a barrel made out of a light wood doesn't slow you down much.

Just thought I'd share.

lol!

I don't seem to have issues with water so far (because there seem to be rivers everywhere in my world).

However, after I died (4 times) I picked a Human Civ high up on the map.

Now I have an issue, it seems all water I hold is ice (even in waterskins), and I can't drink it. When I press to eat it, it just licks the ice and nothing else happens. Someone knows where I can find water in cold places?

Try making a campfire (g+whatever key corresponds to the direction you want) and heating it (I+key corresponding to the ice). That might work. Or the ice might just melt once you're close enough, I don't know, haven't been to cold areas yet.

I just drink the blood coverings/Water coverings from bandit attacks or rain. No negative effects, and it never freezes.

If you have ice, just start a campfire with g, then use I and select the ice to melt it while next to the camp fire.

The real problem is when you can't even get ice in your container because it's all frozen already (even the water in the well bucket) because there's no way to break off ice and pick it up.

I'm usually so covered in animal blood that I have plenty of things to drink, but as far as getting waterskins, backpacks, and other equipment, the best place so far seems to be tombs...

...As long as you are quick enough to run away when the mummy wakes up because you took all her stuff.  Tombs seem to usually be full of random gear, including plenty of containers, and so far it hasn't taken more than an average observation/spatial awareness/whatever skill to spot all the traps.  The mummy takes a little bit to wake up, so thus far I've had time to run away with a good amount of equipment.

Yeah I saw that you can drink the blood off you, but I like to roleplay and that just seems....wrong. Unless I'm a vampire!

Hmm, I was able to get ice from a well earlier.

Also, you can heat the waterskin itself to melt the ice in it, instead of doing each individually.

How? I couldn't get it with [g] or .

Water/ice in a waterskin is usually just one stack, so there's not much difference. Might be useful if I use a barrel or a quiver, though.

I think I used 'I' and picked the waterskin, then chose fill from bucket or something like that.

I just lick the water off my body after I swim across a river. My companions think I'm weird.

I usually take a bag from the starting hamlet, empty out all the berries in it (Or whatever is in it). Stores a ton of water and I rarely need to refill it
