Aha! The fun has been doubled!
« on: February 14, 2012, 08:40:10 pm »

I have successfully defeated my first ambush with the help of some human caravan guards and my squad of swordsdwarves, the Whips of Subtlety.
The caravan's bowmen also shot down a master thief. Glory to Armok, and Fealtycity!

Seeing as I have 50 bars of iron I should invest in some iron weapon traps other then the 200 siltstone rock fall traps.

Embark near a tower or in an evil biome. Cry tears of !FUN as the ambush rises and attacks you a second time.

I want to tell you they were bad men, cephalo.  I want to tell you that with a better overseer the Fortress never would've gotten so bad someone would get offed in a pointless fisticuffs.
But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

You have done nothing.  You are a sham who sits behind walls and watches the hero slay the dragon, only to come and say "Look what I did!"  You are naught but a waifish elven maiden with a chin far smoother than any razor could supply.  Go, hide behind your human soldiers, let the lesser races fight your battles for you while you limp about on the crutch of their support.

And then rises again and attacks you a third time.. and then rises again and attacks you a fourth time... and so on.

I dunno, I'm not even finding this !FUN!.   Maybe I'm crazy, but instantly losing no matter what... I guess it's just not for me.

Fuck you, 95 giant mosquito corpses after 30 seconds.

But grats on the ambush.  I'm sure there will be plenty more to come!

I do believe that could be counted as duping the humans into fighting for them. Why should dwarves risk thier lives when the tall ones are so happy to die/risk career ending injury in thier place? Aside from losing out on the glory that is...

Please tell me you left at least someone to loot.

In the talk of reviving enemies, who is setting up necromancer traps for a battle arena beetween -longname horse hair- against urist mc recruit?

Humans are dirty, they stand on the dirt and build, i saw one build a Native copper fort and he didnt smelt it into bars!
But if a dwarf builds, then it is an experiment...

Same, simply because I need to get my...ooze.. goo... acid.... whateverthefuck wings without all the expedition murdering weather and dead guys coming back to life first.

I'll stick to my giant mosquito/hamster infested savgelands thank you. I need some way to make sure the dead baby the badgers used as paint stays dead after all. And since Magma is rarely easily obtainable at the start on a flat embark....

Mentioning towers, I almost embarked on an area that had 2 Tower civilizations.  Neither was at war though.  I decided against it despite a very limited landspace that is not on an aquifier in this worldgen.

What are these tower civ's? And since they are not marked as being at war, would they come to trade with me if I settled there?

If I'm guessing right, the towers (not dark fortresses) are home to oh-so-friendly necromancers. Who like to annoy helpless masons with immobilized pig heads that make you have to interrupt your army's training for to deal with constantly.
