I do believe I'm not welcome here.
« on: February 14, 2012, 01:18:19 pm »

I just used the 'Just Embark' utility to embark on top of one of the new human towns.

Every single citizen was marked as hostile, and ten pages of peasants, craftsmen, and merchants swarmed my starting seven and beat them to death with their bare hands.

God, I already love the new version.

Hahaha, guess you embarked on a town that was at war with your civ?

I'm hesitant to start with the new version just yet, until some of the major bugs get fixed.  But... oh is it so tempting...

Embrace the madness!

On topic, didn't this also happen with castles in previous versions?

"Major" bugs? ??? What do you mean? If by major bugs you mean crash bugs, I certainly haven't had any yet.
Harden up and play, dangit! :)

If they are at war with my civ, then that's new to this version. Before, even goblin citizens would be friendly when you set up camp next to their towers.

Now I shall attempt to reclaim with a full military force, and see if I can take the city.

That's actually a good point, I forgot about that.

And I think I will try out the new version when I get home.  It might be broken somehow, but I'd like to see one of these glorious game breaking bugs that come with a new release first hand.

And of course, time to start tinkering with mods to get them to work with the new version.

Yea, this happened if you embarked on castles in 31.25 too, and I have 14 disemboweled victims of science unlucky dwarves to prove it.

I like to think of this as a 'stop tresspassing' countermeasure. Sure your factions might not be at war, but they sure as hell don't appreciate you moving into their turf.

slightly off topic, but is there a guide to ironhands tilesets regarding villages and castles and the like?  I can never figure out who is building the place, or what level of town it is (except goblin towers which are as obvious as they are rare).

That's too bad. I really like the idea of a dwarven city underneath a human city.

I think it's racial prejudice, I've gotten quests from elves to kill humans in their town.

Hahahaha this is the best news for DF2012 yet.

Urist McEmbarkAnywhere cancels Embark on Human City: too bloody and battered.

Any chance of quickly "dig down-ramp and space to move, get everyone in there, remove ramp access" before the mobs reach you..?

So much for the wagon (at least until you can undermine it, and recover some stuff, or otherwise set up ditches around it so you can unpack it fairly safely), but I think it would be a decent embark challenge.

Do dwarves and goblins actually have towns this update? I remember using that embarkanywhere of dwarven civs to find it empty and lonely...
