Congrats! It's a great feeling, isn't it?  :)

I haven't played for a few months, but I definitely got the cravings when I saw the topic of this thread. It's such a signature phrase.

Yeah, that second spring is the greatest isn't it?  I remember the feeling of joy I got when I first managed to survive through it...

I just can't wait to see what perils befall me for year 2.

Well, you'll probably get more kobolds, but other than that the second year is generally a breeze compared to the first.  Just remember to keep your food stocks up.

That phrase was far more satisfying in the 2D version though...

"I... I made it... without flooding the fortress? Without everyone starving to death? Without having lizardmen ambush and kill all my legendaries?"

*euphoria!*

Usually I have 1 legendary miner and 1 legendary bookkeeper in the 2nd spring.

Boy howdy, I remember my first DF game.  I actually made it to the "Spring has arrived" message.  My "fort", which was nothing but a hallway and a couple rooms with a smattering of smoothed stone and fortifications in random places, was flooded with miasma.  There was one miserable miner left alive who snapped and slaughtered all the migrants because seeing 6 decaying corpses ended up pushing him over the edge.

Ahh, memories!

I second that. Why is there SO LITTLE DEATH in your fortress?

In any case, keep up the good work! You'll find that things get more exciting once you can maintain a metalworking industry and train a small army.
