My companions are starving/dehydrated.  Anybody know of a way to get them fed?

I've been wondering this as well, haven't been able to figure it out. They won't even drink if you lead them to a river.

I'm fairly sure this is a bug. After wondering why the cities were half empty I looked in legends and found a bunch of "the human X starved to death in Y". At first I thought it was the vampires that were killing them, nope they just died of hunger.
I added the [NO_EAT][NO_DRINK] flags to humans and it seemed to prevent it from happening. It's not a real solution, but at least makes the cities more lively.

I saw people were having trouble with grates, you don't have to open them, they just conceal stairs heading downwards, if you use > or < on them they will work just like normal stairs. (Or at least the ones I've found have.)
Didn't even think to try that... I'll check it out next time I'm in a city

Also, does anyone else seem to notice how much harder the fights seem to be? I'm having trouble surviving encounters with ambushes. I think it may just be because there was a huge lack of armor in my worldgen. It may be from the humans starving to death. I'll check it again and see if there's more armor with the improved humans.

Some amount of starvation is intentional -- the Caravan Arc stuff means that some towns won't always get as much food as they need.

To whoever was talking about lag, I've been experiencing the same thing, and now I think I know why.
In the dungeon there were 50-100 bandits and in the keep there was a night creature with 660 items.  My guess is that there's so much crap being loaded every step that it slows to a crawl.

Also, those bandits are now blocking the stairway out of here

Killed a vampire leader. Does anyone else think they should be keeping all these human tooth necklace trophies in a chest or something instead of holding mountains of them in each hand? :P

They should probably just take fewer trophies, as well as stash them somewhere. I mean, if you're hunting vampires, you really don't need to look much further than the guy draped in hundreds upon hundreds of accessories made from human hair and nails. Heck, if you're hunting *anything* a creepy guy like that is a good place to start. Finding out whether someone is a vampire should be a bit more of a challenge; it'd help if they didn't decorate themselves with human remains.

Those have been in the game forevers.

Though it seems like in this new release, its easier to enter those ages, and to relapse into several ages of myths and legends.

I dont recall what the golden age is, but the age of twilight is when almost all the fantastical creatures have been killed.

it seems like it should be the age of gratuitous werewolf/vampire activity

golden age is denoted by years of peace.
my golden age ended when the dwarves and humans exterminated the gobbos and elves
now tis the age of the dwarves

but yeah, they've been in the game forever, but were hard to trigger.

I made it to a town, found all these awesome shops, decided to sell my loot and buy a bag fisher berries.  Picked it up, started to trade, decided I wanted to do check some other shops first.  Ended up leaving that shop to check another one, talked to the other shopkeeper and found $fisher berries[98]$ in my side of the trade menu.  *oh shit*

But nothing happened.  I returned the bag, and everyone was totally cool with it.  Anyone know what's changed?  My theory is that there's now some sort of grace period for returning goods to shops, or maybe that was just a glitch.  The shopkeeper could clearly see me leave the shop with his bag, and no facepunching ensued.

On the subject of merchantsI have a few questions. One, Where can I buy quivers/Waterskins/backpacks/crutches?
THe used to be in a general goods store but now I can only find import stores filled with gems. I lost my foot, How am I supposed to walk without a crutch. And With thirst back I like to use quivers as extralarge water skins. (they hold 20 unitsof liquid rather then the three that waterskins hold.)
