MY gods in legends receive quite the worshipping from many undwarven people. How does this happen, i find it amusing. I also like the idea of having masters and apprentices for necromancers.

Interesting, I wonder how this affects FPS...

Of course, in the short term it doesn't matter, because the Fun levels just went through the roof.  Although Toady said that there was a limit on how bad the rain can get.  I suppose unless it's buggy you won't have things dropping dead of asphyxiation or rotting nervous systems.  Although that could probably be modded in...
Contaminants seem to decay now, at least the ones from rain do. The rain doesn't break often but when it does I can start to see dry areas.

Yes, evil rain does leave behind contaminants. At least for elf blood. Half of my map is covered by "a pool of elf blood"

Doesn't seem to affect FPS, which still are at 200. My map is a 2x2 and i only have seven starting dwarves though.

Also a lonely giant louse appeared. It seems pretty peaceful, but it is ridiculously quick for a giant louse. By that I mean it's as fast as a dwarf.

Speaking of FPS, how does it compare to the last version?

Is it slower? unnoticeable?

I don't think anyone's had a fort last long enough yet to properly find out.  We're too busy having !!FUN!!.

Embarked on a half evil biome and things were going alright until the evil soot came, now my militia commander and one of my war dogs are thralls to the soot and show as opposed to life in the unit list. They are currently chasing my expedition leader across the map which is the only thing keeping him away from the evil soot.

It leaves behind soot on everything it touches, not sure yet if that contaminates items permanently but considering my whole wagon load of supplies is now covered I'm guessing I'll find out soon. The good news is that it pauses and announces when the soot showed up so burrows and alerts should help.

This all sounds awesome, but do the damn dwarves know how to dress themselves and use buckets, is the question that's on my mind.

It will when fps falls below max.

By the way, I've somewhat 'beaten' or more like hid from undead. The fortress is by no way sealed from aboveground but animals rarely path down, when there are big zombies everyone is inside, when baddies are gone I let out cows to eat and woodcutter to get logs. Zombies either have a hp bar determined by size or knockdown is enough to put them for a while, can't say for sure. In combat logs there are a light damage like bruising and 'knocked over' every time zombie dies.
upd: hooray for 1 level aquifers!

So i've heard about giant sponges somewhere. I found the raws in creature_ocean_new.

   [GO_TO_START]
   [NAME:giant sponge:giant sponges:giant sponge]
   [CASTE_NAME:giant sponge:giant sponges:giant sponge]
   [DESCRIPTION:A huge immobile sponge.]

   [PET_EXOTIC]
   [PETVALUE:500]
   [MOUNT_EXOTIC]

   [PREFSTRING:squishy texture]

yeah so giant sponges can visibly be tamed and used by mounts. Despite being quite clearly immobile and mindless.

And they happen on lakes, oceans and rivers.

Anyone feels like waiting for a gobbo invasion to ride giant sponges in battle and subsequently drown their "mounts" ?

My first thoughts after reading this thread:

1. Mod in beards as a dwarven body part.
2. Try and get some of them severed. Store outside.
3. Wait for an elven caravan.
4. Let the undead dwarven beards slaughter the elves.
5. ???
6. PROFIT!

I seem to, as an adventurer, get ambushed every 5 tiles on the fast travel screen now.

fast travel screen=/= fast travel

Maybe because there are much more creatures in the game now ?

Shook

Hrm, am i the only one finding the undead raising a tad excessive? I mean it's cool you have to take precautions like that, but it's incredibly annoying when your axedorf makes a whole army of undead limbs out of a single zombie, and these limbs don't care much for staying dead either. I could deal with it if they didn't live up every 20th second, but they do. I guess that's what i get for insufficient planning in an evil biome. :P (also if only dorfs were smort enough to realize that zombies in a deep pit can't actually reach them, that'd be lovely indeed)

Instal hatches above your garbage dump pit, they'll dump through the hatch and can't see down in it.

Do zombies attack any creatures?  Can we confirm or deny throwing elves into a pit of zombie elves?

My first thought: Toady, you dick, I was hoping to get some sleep tonight. Obviously that's not going to happen now.
