I have 4 charcoal makers and 2 smelters working continuously to melt it down. For a long time there was more than I could handle, and I sold it. If I have surplus charcoal (which is all the time now), I also create battle axes with the metal, and melt that back down again. If I'm low on charcoal, I've been using it in decorations.

All leather/troll fur/ silk crap that they have though is sold to the caravans for anything that I want. Their profit margins are generally over 10,000 these days. I've easily outfitted half of all the citizens in the civilisations I trade with, so there shouldn't be any elves, humans, or dwarves coming to my fort naked.

I do what this guy does. I always see Goblins more as walking armories now than anything if I have a few good soldiers and a massive pool of recruits. That and I also dump whatever else they leave on the traders. Seems more useful than melting it... Especially since I can never get a magma lake and dislike sheer cliffs from volcanos.

It does seem goblins are incredibly suicidal huh? And oddly generous.

The weapons mostly go into weapon traps for harvesting more goblinite, any armour to either my military or to the smelters. So far, I've used the clothes as trade goods, but in the future I'll probably just toss 'em in a magma pool.
It's sort of funny to have a trader go "extatic" over a humungous pile of (large troll fur loincloth)s with varying degrees of mud, vomit and blood coverings though...

Melt the goblins, collect the iron. Then melt it too. Then make armors to train the armorsmith and equip the grunts, since I always forget to look for flux on embark.

Ah, I've heard that term.... But I always thought that was when thier boss gets pissed enough to come himself, playing the role of goblin clause.
