Site finder said there was flux on this map. I WILL find it! And I won't cheat.

So far I've dug my grand staircase all the way down to the SMR. No sign of an obvious flux-containing rock layer. No sign of any kind of marble in any of the cavern levels.

Found some candy but not gonna mine it.

No I'm exploring every z-level. From the bottom up.

I have so much iron and coke! Just need flux!!!!1

Actually, site finder has been known to make mistakes.

If you dig a hole down on each of the corners and not find any, then it is unlikely there is any on the map.

If you want to make SURE there is none,

 then i would start with corners

Then sides of map.

I embarked in a place that had no flux on the embark finder and started next to a mountain made of limestone. Don't trust that tool too much.

You could always buy some from caravans... In very tiny amounts.

The map I just embarked on would have enough iron and coal for over 50,000 steel bars...   if it had any flux at all.  I totally feel your pain.

Site finder is a load of balls, even if you just limit the finder to "flux" it'll still give you lots of areas without flux.

Use DFhack's prospect tool. It'll tell you definitively if there's any flux and exactly how much of it there is.
