Rae laughed at the idea. "Wouldn't that be so embarrassing for them? An elf being tossed out of a tree by a dwarf?" she said, grinning. Elves didn't really live in trees any more than dwarves lived in the tunnels they mined, but it was still funny to think of. "Really, Tali, how could you do that to someone? If we asked politely they'd probably leave us be." She looked down at her forearm, and the Kanes tattoos on it. "Perhaps I should get a few more tattoos," she mused aloud, subtly asking Tali's opinion on the matter. Some Kanes she knew had extra artwork applied to them by human artists, and it was very colorful and beautiful to look at; all the Tyrmitore markings, while intricate, were basically black lines that denoted status and such. They bored her.
"Is that so? Well then, I'm quite pleased to take it off your hands, Bael." Anya finished dealing the cards under the same 'two's wild, can only exchange two' rule she preferred. "Well, if you play with me, you'll just be playing for these painted bits of wood." She flipped a blue '10' chip like it was a quarter into the center of the table. "I'm surprised Tali's never attempted to play with us. I guess she's had other things on her mind." Anya smiled. "And I don't mind a bit of gossip."
Bael mentioned the idea of relationships and asked her opinion. "I'd say you're asking the wrong girl about romance, here," she said, glancing at Neciel. She'd bet 100 GP that the Celestial was crushing on Luke. "I avoid it like a pair of threes. But if you want my opinion anyway, I'd say it depends on the kind of person you are. A guy like Toman, I don't think it would slow him down too much. I've known him long enough to know that he's a victory at any cost type of person; there were a few times we were adventuring together that he'd ditched me in a bad situation to go after leaders." She laughed. "Of course, I've ditched him too when things got too dangerous, so I'd say it balances out."
Her cards were three sevens, a five, and a nine. She exchanged the five and got a three, then exchanged that and got an eight. How frustrating. Still, she could probably get ahead on this hand. "Raise." She put a '5' chip in the center; everyone now had to match fifteen, raise, or fold. "Now, about you... I don't really know you well enough yet to judge how you'd react when the chips are down and you have to make a decision... Hypothetical scenario. You have one arrow left, one of those ones that go really far, I don't know what you call them. On one side of the battlefield, an ogre has Ria in a really dangerous situation, but you're certain you can put an arrow in is eye, blinding him and allowing her to get away. On the other side, a wounded enemy with one of the God Weapons is about to pass around the corner of a building and escape. Which one do you shoot?"
