((Anti-magic fields people.))

Luke was blushing very slightly at the comment, trying to keep a straight face. "I'd like to introduce Neciel."

Neciel bowed to Kanesbael. "Shaer Taer. It's nice to meet you too." She took the opportunity to make Luke feel even more awkward. "When I saw him sitting on the mast I just knew I had to meet him." She hugged at Luke's arm tightly.

Luke turned a vibrant shade of red. He knew that he had to stop this right here and now. "You may know her as Tabbytha. The cat." he said it hastily and awkwardly in an attempt to stop the madness before it got too far.

She pouted slightly and looked sadly at Luke. "Awww. You ruined the fun."

((Answer: "They're not mine...I was holding them for a friend."))

Bael nodded, looking surprised and pleased

"...I'm sure there's a story there, I'd like to hear..." he said curiously.

Then, he looked back at the barrel, and lifted the fish net.

"...but, I have to clean these fish and prepare them for dinner-We shan't dine on hardtack tonight. Save some of the story telling for tonight, brother." Bael finished, eyes glinting with good cheer.

((@Sky: I missed that whole thing, so I got no idea :P

In other news...))

Sometime a week or so ago...

Ria picked up the Summoners Totem Vulsano had made her, hefting it experimentally. She nodded, hearing the spirits sing in praise of it's construction. They had both spent a good deal of time together, working on it.

"Well made, Vulsano. I shall put this to use very soon...and, the promised price?"

She took out a ivy-green cloth bag from her belt, and counted off four cord-wrapped stacks of 500 Gold each, totaling 2000 Gold in all.

"...and, I have another job for you now, as well. It's not quite as difficult for your skills-can you upgrade my Charisma Cloak to the next highest tier?" She asked politely.

Ask Vulsano to upgrade my Cloak of Charisma for a (+4), cost totaling 6000 Gold

"I believe the final price will be 25%, on top of covering your charges, yes?"

After they had negotiated a price, she decided it was time to reveal her own gift for him...

-------------------------------------------------

"Free of charge, Ser. I've been reading up on my history.

I know you do not really need a sword...but, if you have to have one, why not something like this...?"

She presented Vulsano a beautifully wrought Ironwood Rapier-it's construction, hearkening back to the Drow's ancient skills of woodcrafting, which they practiced before they were banished. It has a certain...savageness to it's design. The reversed spines on it's back edge are vaguely insectoid in design, and the blade seems very eager to spill blood, with a generously slanted razor edge. Yet, unlike a normal Drow weapon, it's a healthy wood-brown instead of cold black.

It also seems to glow very subtly with a pale blue light, much like the Moon. In what's becoming a common sight on most of Ria's weaponry, crystal eyes lay evenly spaced on the hilt, each pointing to a cardinal direction. Vulsano knows this as a Warning enchantment. In this case, there are eight-each of them are Onyx orbs the remind one of a spiders eye.

Engraved on the hilt, is the weapons name-in Elvish, naturally.

"Tylyraes"-Moon Brother, what was once an honorific among the Drow people.

OOC: Ria gives Vulsano a +1 Ironwood Rapier of Warning

A look passes over Rudra's face. The look is the sardonic expression of one who just realized he should have long since done something very obvious.
"Excuse me, Miss Azasar? Did you by any chance prepare a Scrying spell again today? We'll need it to find Bano..."

OOC: Continuating from before!

She wandered back to Ria and Tali. "Bael's gonna go catch some fish. And he wants to marry me," she announced, just to see how the both of them would react. He HAD said it, after all, even if everyone knew he didn't mean it. "Probably looking for pearls while he's down there, it would make a good engagement gift..." Rae couldn't quite stop the "OK I'm totally lying" smile that was starting to form.

Ria put her hand in front of her mouth, to conceal her own smile.

"Ahem...Well, alls fair in love and war...I suppose I can claim Sister Tali, then...?" Ria reached over and put her arm around the Dwarf possessively-Tali's face roughly looking like a :o

And Ria, enjoying her own, more advanced older sister version of Rae's ':3' curling smile.

"Uhm... no. Actually, I didn't prepare any spells today at all... Should I request scrying right now...?"

Azasar has a slightly sheepish look.

"I didn't know what would happen today, so I didn't pray for any spells..."

Talking to Ria...

"Glad it works right! I'm not used to working with divine magic, but I thought it turned out rather well." He accepted the gold and replied to her charisma-related inquiry. "I'd be happy to work on the cloak, but I need to make something of my own first; an Amulet of Health. It'll be done in... two weeks and a bit, probably. After that I can upgrade the cloak."

When Ria presented the sword, Vulsano was caught off-guard.

"Tylyraes..." he murmured as he examined the blade. "I am honored; this is a kingly gift."

Some days later, before dawn...

The ship was silent except for the creaking of timbers, the rustle of the ocean swells, and the quiet movements of the crew stuck on the miserable night shift.

Vulsano startled himself out of sleep, tumbling out of the bed drenched in sweat and shaking. He crouched down, scanning the cramped room as his eyes adjusted into darkvision. The monochromatic silhouettes of objects faded into view; furniture, miscellaneous belongings... and nobody else. His ragged breathing calmed down, and he straightened as his composure returned.

"Just a dream..." he muttered. "Nothing real, not portentous at all... hopefully..."

Despite his assurances to himself, he remained shaken.

"Spells... where's my spellbook?"

After snatching up the book, he leafed through the pages. Nothing really there that could help. Paper, he needed paper to write on. Seating himself at a small table, he began scribbling notes and ideas on a piece of paper.

"Okay, okay... Telepathic alarm ward here... And then... That connects to the runes there... Arcana shrouding meets with the runes here..."

Hours passed as he designed the wondrous item, and dawn went by...

Rudra nods at the cleric. "Yes, please do prepare another Scrying... or three, if you can manage it. We can use it to spy on Bano, that Brachina, and most importantly, Ediacaran. We need to know how well-prepared she is for when we show up to take and destroy Bano's phylactery." Rudra grins an evil grin. "Knowledge is power, as they say."

He looks thoughtful for a moment. "You know, once we destroy that phylactery, Bano's entire army will probably crumple instantaneously. Every undead under his direct control should crumple away... and, assuming most of his army is either under his direct control or that of his subordinates, a large chunk of his army should die with him."

Azasar nodded and closed her eyes. She touched the holy water in her scrying bowl and whispered, "Scry... Bano."

Quote from: Bano
Bano was walking along his troops. Surrounding him were a mummy cleric, some dark creature in the shape of a man, and a slithering mass of bones in a serpentine shape. Azasar zooms out.

The wider frame of view shows many fresh zombies mindlessly slinking on, many skeletons, wights, ghasts, wraiths' shimmering outlines, and a few vampires and their thralls. Bano's horrifically gaunt face was amused; he seemed to be pleased.

Some communication arrived, apparentally. Bano snarls,

'What? You must be insane. And all this time I thought you were not going to move against my conquest. I'll kill you and your- GAH! 25 words!"

His expression not as happy as before, Bano barks at his troops to hustle...

((Also, you can ask for moredetails, or watch any of the three longer >_< To speed things up I'm posting all three.))

Quote from: Ediacaran
Ediacaran is on a ship.
Sailors scurry around her, adjusting the sails and preparing for battle.
Despite the wind, her face is slick with sweat, and she fans herself now and then.

Her ship's side has eighty cannon hatches, closed, but radiating deadly purpose. Her large ship has three others of its kin around it, and about ten galleons like the Altaria, but smaller, escort the four. Behind the spearhead are a vast number of schooners and small galleons. Many uniformed men bustle on their decks...

Each uniformed man has a elongated metal stick.

Ediacaran looks straight into the scrying sensor's field of view, waves and winks. She touches something in her pocket. The scrying is cut off.

Azasar flinches and lets out a pained noise.
"Eh... She hurt me..."

She casts a cure spell on herself.

"Uh... I think I lost my highest spell slots."

Quote from: Brachina
The scrying pool is empty for a while.

It suddenly lights up into the dull red of smoldering wood.

Brachina strikes down one of her minions, a fearsome Barbed Devil.
"YOU IMBECILE! HOW IN CELESTIA DID YOU LOSE ONE OF MY HELLFIRE ENGINES!"

The barbed devil moans, and stammers something about mortal insurgents... antimagic fields with no auras...

"SO HOW IN THE WORLD DID THEY GET OUT NOT ONLY -IN- AN ANTIMAGIC FIELD, THEY STOLE A SEMI-INTELLIGENT CONSTRUCT?"

The barbed devil is silent. Brachina kicks it, and turns around, fuming.

"One of the weapons are gone... and not only is it a freaking expensive seige machine, it shoots hellfire. What a great job. Curses! Five thousand pounds of cold iron... a hundred damned souls..."

She paces.

((In short, you can decide to keep watching either Bano or Brachina, or both, but not Edia.))

It was the night that Neciel had returned with news of what had happened to the Saint. A delightful aroma of magically grilled salmon wafted through the halls of the ship. All of the adventurers were sitting at the main table awaiting the main course, something that was rare to see on the ship since everyone was normally in charge of their own meals. Bottles of fine wine lined the table, and almost everyone had a glass filled with the fine liquid. Silver cutlery and plates were laid out before them in a meticulous fashion with a cloth napkin placed on the plates. There was much to discuss about what they were going to do next, but that could wait, now all they were concerned about was the main course, which from the delicious smells they could tell it was almost done.

((Lets try and make this dinner scene a team effort! Also, who's cooking for everyone? Do we have a chef?))

(I'm going to say Anya did the cooking. :P Also, sorry Dwarmin, for some reason I didn't notice your response to mine earlier in the thread... ^^^; )

Rae sat between Tali and Ria, with Bael on Ria's other side and Toman on Tali's, focusing on the grilled fish and waiting for it to be served. Anya, her hair down but tied back from her head with a white wrap, peeked around the door leading into the kitchen. "Be just a minute, loves. I have to put on the finishing touches." Rae moaned pitifully and put her forehead on her wrists, which were resting on the table. "Ugh, I'm starving..." Toman chuckled to himself. "Patience. All good things come in time."

He turned his attention to Luke and Neciel. "So... you've returned," he said, not sure what else to say to the Celestial woman.

~Earlier, before dinner~

Rae blinked at Ria, before closing her eyes tightly and sticking her tongue out at her. "I don't think that's a fair trade at all!" she protested... then started grinning mischievously. "Tali's worth at least three of Bael. I think I'm getting ripped off. Wouldn't you agree?" she said, turning her attention to the dwarf.

Vulsano fidgeted in his seat at the table. Everyone had gathered for an actual dinner, as opposed to just grabbing conveniently available food whenever they felt like it. He rubbed his eyes; he hadn't recovered from his interrupted sleep the previous night, but he certainly wasn't going to skip out a gathering like this. Despite his preoccupation and the fact that Spot was a cross-class skill, he noted that a newcomer was present. She seemed to be a celestial, which was fitting, he thought, with her apparent familiarity with Luke.

Neciel sank her head low for a moment, and took a drink of wine. "This is going to be a long dinner isn't it?" She sighed and stood up, clanking a glass with her fork. "Over the last several years I've been traveling with Luke disguised as a cat. A lot has happened since then, mostly since he joined this crew. You've all kept him safe, and for that I thank all of you." She held her glass up. "Recently the Saint was taken away to his home plane for crimes against Celestia, which I think is wrong. I know that many of you may hate me for banishing him, but I've managed to delay the sentencing until some of his claims are checked. He was a good soul, and I hope that everything works out for him." Her tone went almost sombre as she neared the end of her toast, but with the last words she regained her energy. "To the Saint!" With that she quickly downed the entirety of her glass and sat down.

Luke, who had remained quiet throughout the speech raised his glass to toast their missing comrade. "To the Saint!" He knew that something was up, but he had a feeling that Neciel simply had no idea what. It just didn't feel right to have someone search an entire plane for a book that he can't truly describe.
