What friends? Filled with an old, familiar rage, Rae threw the bag of gold across the room and into the wall. It didn't make her feel much better. Neither did just randomly punching crates and walls until her knuckles bled. Eventually even the anger left her and she slumped down against the wall, her palms pressed to her eyes. Like an animal... I should just be locked up in here forever. She shifted slightly, lying on her side in a corner of the room opposite the door. Damn you Brachina... damn it... The worst part was that she still felt affection for the demon. It was hard not to; drug/magically induced or not, the emotion had existed, and it wasn't going to go away. I should just go back to sleep... she thought, looking at the blood on the back of her hands... and the deva feather sticking to it.

((Did the rest of us see the Deva feather, or did that happen in Rae's room?))

(Rae's room; she didn't open the letter until she was away from everyone else, and it fell out of the folds in the parchment.)

Rudra crosses his arms and closes his eyes, concentrating, as Rae walks past him on her way downstairs.

The only extraplanar person that would send Rae money is that Brachina. Brachina are lawful, she'd would be bound to do it if she promised to... And, come to think of it, I think she did. Still, this means that either she had the payment set up ahead of time... unlikely... or she's alive again, which means she has a very powerful friend helping her out...
Rudra leafs through his knowledge of magic quickly, and puts a few pieces of information together in his head. The Brachina's face, burned into his memories. The letter, guarded only by a distraught Elf. And, the clerics... I have a plan.

Rudra's eyes snap open, focused and determined. "Anya, when exactly are we going on that shopping trip? I need to buy someone a present."

Anya turned to Rudra. "Whenever Ria's ready to go. She said it wouldn't be TOO long, but she needs to commune with the spirits or something. I think." She shrugged. "I mean she didn't actually SAY that but that's what it sounded like she was doing. I don't speak elvish."

(Although if you want to timeskip us up so we're on the trip in your reply, you can do that, Shoruke. I don't mind. ^^^)

Rudra closes his eyes and heaves a slow sigh to calm himself. "I suppose it's moot before tomorrow morning, anyway. That's when Wheatley and Miss Azasar prepare their spells, right? Still, I'm ready to leave anytime."

Anya thought about it. "I suppose they prepare them then. Why?" She wasn't sure what he was getting at.

*Fifty-nine minute timeskip*

The small party of Anya, Rudra, Azasar, and Ria headed into town, heading for the shopping district first. Anya, in particular was looking for magic clothing, but especially robes.

Rudra makes sure to enter every store that might contain a chalice, bowl, or similar worth 100 gp (or more). He also buys 4 doses of Holy Water (for 100 gp) from the first church he sees.

The Saint stood up, and walked to the galley of the ship. Peering around he saw no one at all in his immediate view at the tables. "Where did everyone go? Pray for one hour and suddenly everyone disappears. This is going to be a dull day." A metallic neighing could be heard throughout the ship, as the clip clop of hooves on wood came closer and closer.

One of the deckhands that was cleaning the deck was shouting, "Help! There is a giant metal horse attacking me!"  He let out a cry and there was a sound of his feet being dragged across the floors towards the center of the ship.

The Saint rushed up the ladder to the deck and saw the horse. Within a second he called out to it. "Odin? Is that you?" He ran up to the horse and gave it a hug that would have crushed the bones of a normal horse. "It really is you! The other Saints have built you well." He released the horse from his death-grip and spoke once more, "Come now, we have a city to explore!

The horse neighed in response as the deckhand walked away muttering under his breath, "Weirdos." The Saint rode off on Odin's back down the gangway and into the streets of the city.

Ria was oddly quiet...

Action: Ria looks to upgrade her Cloak of Charisma from +2 to +4

OOC: I'm going to have to snark some money from Tali to pay for it. OOC wise.
Also, you guys can start paying Ria to upgrade your equipment and stuff now! Don't forget. :3

Anya decided to address her as she bought a pair of Roaring Robes. (-18k; 3.5k left) "You've been awfully quiet, love." The sorceress looked down a moment. "...Wondering about that letter, too?"

Ria turned to look at Anya, idly looking through a rack of bargain Charisma Cloaks...

"...The beings that Devils are, seem quite incapable of empathy, I assume the gift was a harmful one...and will only hurt my sister all the more.

I've been thinking about many things, anyway. Why do you ask?"

Ria seems to be more 'normal', now-though, there is an undeniable quality that has changed in her-one that even people who know her well can feel, but cannot exactly place.

"I have to have a reason?" Anya smiled gently. "But really, I wanted to get to know you better. It just seems strange that I'm on the ship with so many people and the only person I actually know is Toman. We're... old friends." But nothing more. They had both left Ula on the same boat nine years ago for different reasons, and she being a young girl of barely fifteen, he had sworn to protect her. Eventually that had stopped being necessary, and the pair of them drifted apart, only occasionally re-entering each other's lives. "...So... you feel spirits, correct? Is that a path you chose, or were you born with that ability?"

Ria was silent for a moment.

"Ah, lessons?

Well, a Spirit as you conceive it, leaves the indefinable wake of it's presence-like I ship passing through water-I can feel these subtle energies, and interpret them, at times.

...and, I was born with it...the Spirits chose me as an emissary from birth. For what reason, I cannot say. Even my Spirit Guide cannot tell me the Why. I have always believed the answer will be found at the time of my death. So, I do not inquire overmuch.

Well, I had always felt them, but I did not always know what they were. I would feel a pricking at the back of neck, for example, but no one was ever there...I would hear a voice, with none to speak it. I...was very confused and afraid, at first. But I felt it was real, and that it was a secret gift.

Lucky for me, my Clan is well versed in looking for these signs, and I was trained and helped through the times of hardship. After all, if I had been born to a different race, and began taking taking of invisible people only I could feel and hear, what do you suppose would have happened...?"

"The looney bin, probably, or perhaps sent to a nunnery." Anya shrugged. "Depends on where you're from, really. I mean, Toman and I are both from Ula, but he's kind of a hick and I grew up, er, noble. Sort of." She was the youngest granddaughter of a branch of a minor noble family, but hardly the only heir they had, and she'd left to seek her fortune rather than wait around to get married off. Besides, she was born with this magic and she wanted to use her youth to explore the world. "Where he's from, they'd definitely think you're crazy. Probably try exorcisms and everything."

She grinned at Ria. "But that - interacting with spirits - is not all there is to you, is there? Like... you and Bael, for instance. How did that happen?" She considered her own sorcery (and minor obsession with Magic Missile) to be just a small part of her. She wondered if Ria felt the same, or if she was more devoted to her calling than the red-haired woman.
