Prince drops you a perfectly shined shield. You look in it...

((We're getting ready to head to Dorfland, right? Time for an introduction, then.))

Outside of the realm of dreams, back on Periwinkle Isle...

Lucus walked along the docks, thinking to himself. He needed a new lead, some new land to search. He'd canvased most of the continent, as well as countless forests on other lands. The only places he hadn't been were Hatred Isle, Noire, and the dwarven lands. Obviously he wasn't going to visit the first two.

Just traveling there and searching wouldn't be very good, though. Lucus had heard of terrible creatures there; murderous elephants, skelks, spawn of the demon Holistic Detective, and unicorns. No, what he needed was a group of adventurers to travel with, hardened warriors and mages that formed a protective unit. There was only one place he could find people like that...

Lucus goes off in search of the tavern that conveniently houses the party!

((Not entirely sure how he'd determine who's in an adventuring party. Would he know about this group specifically? Given how Legend Lore classifies us as legendary it seems plausible.))

((Disregard the Legend Lore skill for now. Think about it - what have you done that makes you legendary? Not yet. In the future? Of course. You're heroes! Also, how 'bout 'go to the biggest ship in harbor and hitch a ride'? :P))

(Technically Rudra, Anya, Araph's dropped multiclass character, Wheatly, Azasar and Saint raided Hatred Island, beat the crap out of a powerful lich, and stole a god weapon. That might classify as legendary. :P)

Rae didn't recognize herself at all, but she would remember this woman's face for the future. She nodded to Prince, then withdrew from the dream, waking up cold and lonely on the floor of the hold once more. She closed her eyes with a sigh. Maybe this time her sleep would be dreamless and uninterrupted; technically she didn't need to sleep that much as she was an elf, but it was easier on her and everyone else if she just stayed out of sight and out of mind.

((Good idea.))

Sudden change of plan! Lucus realizes that the Laws of Drama dictate that he would automatically encounter the right people if he just starts alone on his journey. He does an about face and returns to the docks. Which ship seems most likely to be heading to the dwarven lands... After looking around, he notes a ship that looks like it could star in a movie; bingo! That's gotta be it.

Striding down into the harbor, he calls up to one of the ship's crew members, who's heaving barrels too and fro.

"Where's this ship bound?"

((But no-one knows you people assasinated Bano! However, [redacted plot secret]!))

Said crew member was Maximin the bard.

"As per the law of encountering random people who ask passage on a big ship, I know that whatever I say it'll just happen to concide with you. Therefore, we're going to Dorfland. Maybe I'll be able to get a decent cuppa beer there." Maximin fiddled a couple notes.

Actually said crew member was Toman; Max was just hanging out fiddling, but he got to the answer first. (I figure we're not going to catch him doing any actual work. :P) The black knight, his armor appearing to be a set of black sailor clothing with the emblem of St. Cuthbert on the left chest area of the shirt, set the crate down for a moment. "Indeed. I look forward to the trip, myself." As an enthusiast of the industrious nature of dwarves, he quite liked the idea of spending some time in their lands to look for artifacts. Much better than hanging around the undead, anyway.

"What a 'coincidence'! Dorfland's just where I need passage to. Two questions: do you know where the captain is, and do you have an idea how much transport will cost?"

(Fat cats are the best ones. :3)

"Price? Depends on whether you just want a ride, or if you're looking for a job." Toman sat on the crate. "Toman Fears. I'm a fighter, bard, part-time dragon, full-time black knight, and a follower of St. Cuthbert. As far as our adventuring party goes, we don't particularly have a leader. The captain of Alatria is around here somewhere, though..." He extended his hand for Lucas to shake and introduce himself with. "So... is the trip business or pleasure?" As stated before, it was a bit of both for Tom.

Lucus shook Toman's hand.

"Um. Part time dragon?... Nevermind. I'm Lucus Tacitus, ranger. If I could, I would give, like, five different professions I'm accomplished in, but it'd all come back to saying variations on 'ranger'. And I guess bard, but in a strictly non-magical way. As for the trip, it's pretty much just business."

He paused for a moment.

"You're a member of an adventuring party? I'm guessing you're heading to the dwarven lands on some quest then... If you've got a spot open for a ranger, I'd be honored to join you. Even for a passable warrior, traveling alone through the wilds there is abhorrently idiotic, and I doubt a better opportunity than this will come along any time soon."

"Don't worry about fitting in; we'll take just about anybody. We have a pair of elf sisters, a dwarf rogue, a drow mage, an initiative of the seven veils, a man with angel wings, a warforged dedicated to St. Cuthbert, a gambler with an obsession for Magic Missile, a pair of clerics, one of the elf sister's husband, a doppelganger..." Toman looked up for a second. "Other than me, I'm pretty sure that's everybody actively adventuring." He stood and picked up the crate and smiled, a rare sight for him. "By part-time dragon, I mean I'm slowly turning into one, in a fashion. It's a long story. Welcome aboard Lucus. There's an empty room on the crew level if you want to get settled in; it's to the aft of the ship and on the left. On the right is Tali's room." Toman carried the crate aboard.

Lucus stood there for a second, caught off guard by the barrage of descriptions.

"That's, uh... varied, to say the least."

He shrugged and grinned.

"Well, at least it'll never get boring around here."

Following Toman up onto the deck, Lucus headed into the cabins to find the captain.

((And I assume it's not necessary to go through the finding-the-captain-and-paying part, right?))

Belowdecks, Rudra was sleeping in... again.

"Bwah!" Rudra exclaims, startled awake by the sudden end to his dream. He takes a few moments to steady himself, and slowly gets out of his bed and gets dressed, marvelling at how easy it is to get dressed in the "dark" with permanent darkvision to aid his normal eyesight, outlining everything in distinct black and white. The only downside is that now I have less excuses to use my candle of alchemist's fire trick. Oh well, it's not like anyone ever notices anyway...

Rudra decides to head to the galley for breakfast, hoping there's someone to talk to as well.

Anya was sitting the communal area of the ship, eating pork chops with a fork in one hand and a deck of cards in the other. From the look of things, she was playing solitaire. She didn't notice Rudra enter at first, and when she did she gave him a little wave with her fork. It took another few seconds for her to finish the bite she was on before speaking. "G'morning. Sleep well?" she asked, putting a red seven on a black eight.
