For a short while, there was silence but for the faint galloping...

((Sorry I had work, and I got dragged into a planning session for a WH40k game.))

The statue twitched and the gems of the holy symbol on the silvery-blue head of the construct glowed a faint red. It's head moved upwards with a grating sound as a snaking vine that had been resting at it's neck snapped. It spoke with a hollow voice coming from inside it, almost as if echoing through a tube. "Who is the one that calls forth me outside the endless bounds of Arcadia?" He slowly stood up, brushing the plants off of him rather than snapping them off as he did when he awoke. It stood as tall as a human, clad in blue adamantine plates joined by a now living wood coloured material. "To what sacred ends have I been summoned?"

Toman took a step back to give the construct time to stand and acclimate itself to its surroundings. "My name is Toman S. Fears, a black knight and gold dragon disciple following the teachings of St. Cuthbert. These are my companions: Tali, the dwarf; Kanesrae and Riawilde, the elf sisters; Luke, a spirit detective; Rudra, an initiate of the sevenfold veils; Vulsano, a drow wizard; Wheatly, a cleric; and finally, Eurika, a sorceress, and her bodyguard slash servant Fabian." Toman pointed out each in turn as he introduced them; Rae was too busy looking over the construct with something like squee. It was very interestingly built, and the jewels in ts face were marvelous.

"There will always be a need for retribution and just punishments, but I have one particular person in mind. There is a woman named Auvergne. I am not sure what evil she plans, but she has been hounding my steps for some time now, and over time I've seen her lead undead, pirates, clockwork horrors, and a necromancer. Her most recent act was to poison Eurika, severing her from her abilities to manipulate magical energies. I woke you so that we may visit upon this woman justice... and maybe, afterward, you can continue to travel with us. As I said, beings like you and I... followers of the Cudgel... our work is never done."

The construct looked over the group with glowing eyes. "You lead an interesting group Toman S. Fears. Never before have I seen a celestial and a drow within the confines of a single room without tearing at each others throat over a petty squabble." He stretched his limbs one by one slowly shifting the metal plates into more solid locations as he moved. He pulled out a trident that was embedded in the ground with ease, and placed it into a slot on it's back. "You may call me The Saint, as I am one of many sainted souls that walk this plane, though my physical body may be unique. I assume that I am indeed on the material plane? No matter." He continued to stare motionlessly at Toman. "Auvergne must be a powerful lawbreaker for a follower of the Cudgel to seek out a saint. Why have you called upon a celestial as well? Is Auvergne powerful enough to call upon all of the righteous planes for assistance?" The Saint pointed towards Luke.

Luke seemed surprised this celestial business was all new to him. "Me?" Luke took a step back in surprise waving his hands back and forth. "No, no, no. I'm not a celestial. I just grew these wings a few days ago." He didn't know what to think at this point. Maybe he is a celestial and he is just taking his time emerging, or maybe that isn't it at all.

The Saint was silent for a moment. "Ah. You must be the kin of-" Just then Tabbytha hopped onto the Saint, much to the construct's amusement. She walked up to it's head and whispered something to the metal being. He replied aloud in Feline. "|Alright. I understand.|" He turned back to the group. "If we are to judge Auvergne, Toman S. Fears then we must go now. Such a threat should not go unheeded. We must guide the Cudgel's Ballista if it should strike true."

"Just Toman is fine, Saint. And I agree. The trail led us here, and to you; it is not so much that we sought you out, as I believe it is that you were provided to us to aid in our quest." He nodded authoritatively. There could be no reason save divine providence for them to stumble across a construct of the God of justice when seeking to bring an evildoer to justice. "We should set off immediately. There are still more areas in this citadel to search." He turned to leave the room and try the next door to his immediate left.

"Whoa, we have a celestial here? I didn't know! Quick, we need to start being vaguely antagonistic to each other so we can provide intra-party tension and make some plot developments!"

Vulsano's demeanor changed from joking to serious as he turned back to The Saint.

"We aren't actually on the material plane. Some sort of material plane facsimile, though I have no idea who made it. Sort of a... replica of a town, only devoid of life. There are either illusions or spirits running to and fro through the streets; a ghost-horseman-guy ran through Toman earlier. One thing I do know about whoever made this place is that they're, for the most part, an illusionist, so the illusion hypothesis seems most accurate."

Final orders!

Merchant's offering price:
  Silver longsword - 400 gp
Slick full plate armor - 10000 gp
Medium breastplate armor - 2000 gp
  Chain shirt - 3500 gp
  Jasper - 50 gp
  Dwarven waraxe - 1200 gp
  Small greatsword - 8000 gp
  Medium greataxe - 3500 gp
  Crossbow bolts - 2000 gp
Sum = 30650 gp

Tali just knew she was being ripped off on some of the items, especially ones with more than +3 enhancements.

Haggle?
(10% increase in price's Diplomacy DC = 22 (+0 Just Met, +5 Unfavorable, +3 Level))
Failure by more than 10 = 10% lower price.
Failure by less than 5 = Counteroffer
Meeting DC = Success
Success by more than 10 = 20% increase in DC)

Tali grunted in acceptance. She just wanted to offload this junk...

Action: Tali accepts the price and splits the money between Luke, Rudra, Tali, and Rae/Toman

---------------
Later, she drew a covered cart full of the...

...into the city. She was sure someone would have a use for them...

Actions:

1. Use my [Knowledge: Local] skill to find a good buyer for these mechano-whatsits and bones. Perhaps a magical college?

2. Once I find a buyer, [Bluff] them into thinking I'm prepared to sell these valuable technomagikal artifacts for scrap metal if they don't pay up themselves. Offer the Dragon Bones as a incentive, to be included in the deal at a reduced price.

Riawilde, on the other hand, was looking for some items before the ship departed...

Action: Looking to buy Scrolls of Keen Edge

Rudra looks contemplative. "I've never met a divine Warforged before... all the ones back at the academy were constructed through arcane power, and weren't religious at all... in fact, they were hardly sentient, it seemed. You are most interesting. Tell me, uh... The Saint... what did you do before you began your rest here?"

(@Dwarmin: Unless you're buying those scrolls for the Saint or Tali, there's no need; Toman and Rae can't benefit from them. They both already have Improved Critical on their weapon of choice. Just thought I'd warn you before you spent some GP. Now for a quick IC line so the entire post isn't OOC...)

Toman shrugged. "He was doing St. Cuthbert's work, I would imagine... but I would like to hear specifics, too, to sate my curiosity if nothing else."

((@SC: Well, it's only half that. I might pick up some for Tali, but the real use is that I need them for the Deadly Precision enchantment on Tali's weapons))

-------------------

Tali seems inquisitive.

"..yeah. I've seen lots of Golems and such. Even ones that could talk and spout...er, speak warnings and such. Dwarves used to make alot more of them, than they do these days.

Can't say I ever met a 'warforged', though. Eh, Rudra-are they sort of like those mechanical spider-things me and Toman scattered all over the ship deck? You called them 'Horrors'. Do they come from the same place?"

(Ah, OK. That's the one that lets you deal 50% SA damage on normally un-sneak-attackable things, right? ^^^)

((@SC: Penetrating Strike class feature? I would have taken it if I had known it existed...

The enchant is just a bonus die on my sneak attacks. Unless you're talking about something else. O-o))

Eurika said, "Warforged are much more sophisticated than Clockwork Horrors. Horrors live on the Material Plane and go from world to world, stripping them to dust and extracting metal to make more of themselves, usually. Warforged are made for, well, war, and are usually sentient, have some emotion, and are more 'human.'"

PS is probably what I was talking about. Anyway, I hope the bad weather lets up... there's a possibility I might not have power soon, and I don't want to miss the session... ;_; )

((Saints are considered outsiders, so I needed a home plane, which it conveniently failed to mention.))

"I was originally within the Ballista above Arcadia. Whenever a task needed to be completed one of many within the Ballista would be sent out to complete the task to avoid having to use the Ballista often. Otherwise we'd simply debate the philosophy of law with traveling devotees. It has been several hundred years since the last time I was called upon. The location of my body on this plane was too far away for most tasks."
