The girl happily poured out a large amount of platinum coins. She happily skipped off down the street, not bothering to count the coins. Kanesrae counted the coins - she had paid a couple too many.

Rae felt better about matters as she counted the platinum, a full 300 - or 3,000 GP, as it were. She had done a good turn for the girl and that always brightened her day. With any luck the young human would master the blade and become a renowned adventurer herself.

(Can I name the sentient greatsword? :3)

((You should specify who you're talking to, even if there's only one person talking. It makes things a bit more obvious.))

Luke wakes up with a quick snort in the bar facedown on the counter. He should have known that the Moondrop was going to knock him out. Tabbytha was sitting on his head licking her paws, but quickly hopped down onto the counter when Luke started moving. The barkeep is sweeping the floor as Luke looks up. "Ah, finally came to eh? Your friends checked out a little while ago, and said that they'd be in the marketplace and that they'd be back later tonight."

Luke's head was pounding, but he needed to get up and start finding out all he could about the necromancer's tower. "Thanks. I'm sorry that I passed out on your counter."

The barkeep stopped sweeping and looked at Luke with a smile. "When you said that you'd have an Elven Moondrop I thought you were joking. I kind of figured this might happen, so don't worry about it."

Luke stood up and made his way to the door, and Tabbytha quickly followed suit. He said a few parting words from the doorway. "I'll be back later today for another drink, but this time I'll just stick to ale." He headed into town looking for someone who knows something about the Necromancer's Tower. The sun blared at him, making him squint as his eyes adjusted. He started walking down the street looking for someone that might know something about the tower.

Tabbytha hopped onto Luke's shoulder and sat down. "You know, you drink too much. You have a job to do, and the hangover isn't going to help you fight the fiends that walk this plane."

Kanesrae took the greatsword from its sheath and inspected it. "If you have a personality, you ought to have a name," she said, studying it. "I think... Amariat +Beautiful Silver Flame+ suits you. What do you think?" If the sword was pleased, she would know it. In any case, she needed to find a mage who could help her more directly communicate with the sword. Perhaps he or she could enchant her earrings...

@ Fool
(Good point)

Apparently, not knowing about the necromancer's tower mean you were stupid. At least, if you lived in Nio. He gathered some scraps of information, such as the necromancer was strong enough to kill and undead-ify every single member of the town guards' elites. The king did not bother to send his royal army to destroy a mere necromancer who did not menance the country at all. It seemed the resident of the tower was passive enough to not do what necromancers were expected to do unless you went and provoked him/her. Scrying revealed that there were some skeletal monsters, other undead and perhaps a vampire or two, it was said.

Luke walked forward as he talked to his cat, who was happily sitting on his shoulder. "So if the necromancer is so passive, is it possible that we could just request a visit to the tower? We can enter with little resistance, and deal with the situation quickly. We may not even need to kill the necromancer if they're relying on artifacts." He paused for a moment, and looked at Tabbytha. "What do you think Tabbytha? Should we ask to visit the tower or is that too risky?"

(Er. Did you see my last post, Sky? Just wondering since apparently I posted at the same time you did. If not, I just named the greatsword and went to find a mage who could help with the permanent Detect Thoughts thing. ^^^; )

@SerCon
((Nope, missed your post :P))

The sword responded with a somewhat pleased emotion.

Kanesrae happily headed towards the mage's guild.

On her arrival, she noticed that ... most of the guild seemed to be playing games of dice or cards. The receptionist greeted Kanesrae with a smile, and asked, "Hello, Ms. Welcome to the Nio Mage Guild! How may I help you today?"

(Sorry if I seemed impatient, I just kind of thought that might've happened. ^^^; )

Rae placed her hands on the counter politely as the receptionist spoke to her. "Yes, I'm looking for an enchanter? I need a permanent Detect Thoughts spell; my weapon is magic but I can't really communicate with it other than by..." What was that term he used? "...empathy." That sounded correct. "Is there one here?"

@SerCon
The mage cheerily said, "Nope, sorry, miss! Our guild is rather weak : the best wizard here can but cast 3rd level spells! Permanency is a fifth level spell, miss!" He lowered his voice and added : "Good magic users are rather rare in our guild, and it'll probably cost a bunch."

((If you haven't posted, I'd never had seen your post.))

"I guess that'll have to wait, then, Amariat," Rae said, drumming her fingers on the counter. "Oh well. Thanks anyway, miss."

What else was on the agenda for today? Oh yes, appraise all of her loot, and decide what to sell and what to keep. She left to go find a jeweler.

(If anyone does want some of the stuff from DOAPC, I'll hold on to it rather than sell it, but I still want to go get it appraised. :P)

@ElfCollab

"...It has extra hardness, Ghost Touch and twice the durability compared to a regular bastard sword... though the technique and style are exotic. Where did you get this sword from? It looks nothing like a regular bastard sword."

@SerCon

The jeweler took a long time appraising each gem; he peered at it with a magnifying glass, weighed some, and dropped others in water. He declared that the whole lot was worth 5843 gold pieces, and could be sold for 5200 gold at the worst.

The eyepatch had a sapphire and moonstone 'eye'. It was worth 1670 gold pieces and could probably be sold for half. The comb was made from gold dragon scales laid on wood; it had a single red garnet for decoration and was worth 794 gps, again disposable for half. The bluish dagger was created from adamantine. The adamantine in the dagger was worth 3000 gold pieces, and the whole thing worth 3300 gold pieces. This, too, could possibly be sold for half its value.
