Get boards from a crate that is not being used to reach the hatch and use them, nails, spider webbing and the mace to make this:

did the hatch get atomsmashed? it may never be a hatch again but its still physicly exists
Get the broken hatch,

wrap leftover spider webbing or  some cloth around broken hatch to make a shield.

for that matter see if we can bend the spider chitin into something wearable, like a helmet. (yes you'll be a chit head)

This hatch is too broken to make a shield out of, the edge board is cracked through and is more likely to fall apart then stop a blow.
+bent copper hinge and latch
Examine room; theres a hatch in the floor I just climbed up through, I can see the room is round, and hey are those stairs over there? yup there is a spiral staircase around the wall leading upward beyond my sight, not much else though.

Disassemble "long mace" keep mace, boards, and nails

wear helm and boots if we haven't already

slowly and carefully climb stairs.

still have 3 parts Spider chition in addition to helm, 3 organs, 2 more webbing, the long iron mace took 2 nails which are now stuck in a board that you have 2 of
Go up staircase; after several minutes and as many revolutions around the room, the staircase opens into a much smaller room with glass walls and a firepot central, looking out overlooks the town of Svast, oh this is the light house.

use two of the chitin to craft ourselves some bracers waste not want not and all

go back to crack that giant crab open with our mace because I bet we're getting pretty hungry by now.



so after disassembling the "long mace" the count would be
