Why dwarves fear eagles

If I was closer to the size of a goat, I'd run too!

If regular eagles are that powerful, I would hate to see what a gaint eagle (three sizes larger than a human) can do.

Wow...I think I'm gunna be increasing the size of my usual marksman squads a bit whenever I set up in a mountain.  That was quite a drop.

The scary thing is, that with a highly skilled dwarf if he gets attacked by an eagle theres a good chance that something like that could happen if a cliff is around.

It can happen with a low-skill dwarf too. A high-skill dwarf will dodge off the cliff, a low-skill will be charged, knocked over, and will tumble away.

Stupid goat deserved it.  I've always found them frightening.  Maybe it's the Satanic use of the goat head.

This made me want to make a dwarf fortress documentary. I had this giant bat once that would push entire trade caravans off of a chasm.

Still though, haven't seen anything like that before.  Brings to mind the old roc myths, where they'd carry off elephants and whales and the like. If a random goat had to die for my entertainment and education, then so be it.

I'd still like to have a pet goat though.

Well, it's a lifecycle so if people feel a pity for those killed by predators, it's just our psychology, but it's not wrong.

I used to herd my grandma's goats often when I was a boy and visited her country house, and I can definitely say they're satan's siblings. Every time you try to look in a book/turn your back on them/close your eyes they run in different directions and infiltrate neighbours' gardens.

I had to take care of my aunt's goats when I was house sitting one summer.  They were destructive little bastards; they broke down the fence around the chicken enclosure to steal their food.  Jerks.

Y'know, the reason they are associated with the devil is because the Christians tried to demonize the Knights Templar after they found out that they were worshiping something called "Baphomet", which had a goat's head.

Christianity is nothing if not flexible.

Which is why I'm not Catholic.  Exaggerations like that get me in trouble.  When we were discussing strange rituals after reading The Lottery in reading class, I mentioned the Jagannath thing, after reading a book that suggested people jumped under the car, only to find out later that deaths were very rare.
