The Escape Of Bax The Goblin Thief
« on: February 10, 2012, 06:06:20 pm »

Bax was mean.

Bax was green.

Bax caught sight of a turkey spleen.

The next thing she caught sight of was Stukos the furnace operator who was approaching her with a mischievous look in his eye.

"Hahhah! A bit cramped in there, eh?" Stukos winked.

Bax's deep red eyes darted into Stukos's with a mixture of malevolent anger and terror.

"Don't worry, I'll put you somewhere with a bit more space."

Stukos walked up to the larch cage and opened the door.

"I have some company for you too."

And with those words he gripped Bax by her long purple hair and dropped her out in the pit. Bax fell for 52 feet. She raced towards the ground and landed on a bleeding, terrified, turkey, lying in a pool of blood. It died moments after the impact.

Stunned but unscathed, she eventually got her bearing and looked around. She was trapped in a small pen, surrounded by cobaltite walls that were drenched in blood. A baby llama. Struck with fear and dripping with blood from its crimson wool. Two turkeys. Bleeding and injured with multiple limbs crushed.

An evil smile spread across Bax's face and her red eyes glowed. She moved over to the corner and crouched down. She pulled out her large iron dagger and waited. The baby llama charged, wide-eyed, and kicked Bax in the foot and again in the leg bruising the skin. She laughed. She slashed at its leg, tearing tendons and rendering it only able to flail wildly on the ground as a turkey pecked at her. She relished in the ecstasy of fear that the llamas soul had possessed, it filled her with an immoral excitement. Suddenly, she stood up and plunged the dagger into the back of the baby llama's head, crushing the upper spine and opening an artery in the side of the neck as it pierced through the other side. She twisted it around with glee and the llama writhed into oblivion.

Bax had killed.

Blood was spilled.

Her evil soul had been fulfilled.

The sound of hooves clashing on the stone platform above her echoed around the caverns.

It was a new draft of llamas.

The blood was already two inches high in the pit and the extra company that had just greeted the floor caused an explosion of red fluid to cover everything within the walls. Bax stood stoically as it dripped from her matted vermillion hair and realised that she was going to die eventually if she didn't find a way out. Whether that be by one hoof through the brain or by four falling on top of her.

Three of the llamas' legs were broken, the bones snapped and pushing outwards against the freshly sheared skin like they were trying to escape. One of llamas had landed on the other and was perfectly fine. Bax theorised that if this continued then there was a chance she could stack up the carcasses and climb over the walls.

Carcasses.

She had been stuck with the dead animals for days now. But days was enough time for nature to work on them. There was a hugely intense stench that seeped out of the rotting bodies, a gargantuan cloud of deep purple smog that creeped in all directions. If one could smell death, then this was it. It permeated her sense of smell like a steel shortsword had been forced up her nose. Bax would never forget that.

Bax could hear a voice above her. She walked under the opening so she could hear better.

Stukos.

"This disgusting miasma is getting out of hand. Throwing some rocks down will do the trick."

Bax recoiled with shock and vehement hatred. She dived to the edge of the prison and braced herself for the cave-in. The rock came crashing down into the ground sending a shockwave of dust and debris in all directions. If there is one thing you should know about Bax though is how damn tough she is. This goblin survived a cave-in that was concentrated into a 3x3 gap and later on managed something just as incredible. Bax was dazed for about 2 minutes before she finally got her bearings - just a bruised leg. Crushed turkeys and shredded carcasses litted the floor but this didn't effect her because her attention was brought to something that reinstilled her malice and evil with blazing vigour.

Lying on the floor was Stukos the Furnace Operator.

Bleeding.

Injured.

Meanwhile upstairs, Ilral the Fish Cleaner noticed that Stukos wasn't back yet.

"Damn that lazy dwarf, I bet he's gone to the aviary instead of doing his job."

Ilral jogged down the stairs and was stopped by the Mason Rimtar who told him:

"We've just built a new floor over the pit. You need to break it down and clear it out."

Clearly, Rimtar hadn't noticed Stukos through the dust.

"I thought that was Stukos' job?" he said angrily.

"Sorry but you're up for it." Rimtar replied.

Ilral stormed over to the floor tile and began hacking furiously. He didn't pay any attention to where he was standing, just like Stukos.

Back in the pit, Bax was staring malevolently at Stukos writhing on the ground - savouring his pain. The sound of metal against stone alerted her. Stukos' eyes were wide with terror and helplessness.

"Not again." she rasped. But then "Wait..."

When the last strike smashed the floor, Ilral came crashing down with a ton of stone. But this time Bax moved closer to the impact zone and in an amazing feat of bodily toughness was slammed and bounced against the cobaltite walls of her prison until eventually she was pitched up into the air 10 feet and landed onto the soft silt loam outside. She suffered a bruised arm but nothing more.

She wasn't the only one either. Everything bar a turkey and Ilral had been hoisted out of the pit. Bax could taste freedom, but something was holding her back. Stukos was was lying on the floor with major injuries but still alive. Bax's urge for revenge drew her to him, but she held herself back when the sounds of mail shirts clinking in the caverns, echoed to her.

She would be back. And next time she would have some company for him.

Bax had endured

Stukos was cured.

Stukos' death was more than assured.
