Let's say he did a documentary on the invasion of earth in the year 2008 by, say, Dwarves.

Is the world now Magmad to death? No. Does the original work of fiction come true in RL? No. Does the original work of fiction still exist, it's very existence having created another universe? Yes. Would the exact reenactment of a work of fiction in RL disallow me from summoning from it? Hell no. Because those events and people and things have still happened and still exist outside Universe A.

Clearly the best type of magic would be that which allows one to produce bacon at will. Unless it's involuntary, midas touch style, in which case it would be a tragedy of terrible proportions as its user slowly managed to become sick of eating only bacon.

Boundary magic can do this. Simply manipulate the line between not having bacon and having bacon. Shape, size, amount, all these can be manipulated at will. Gap haaax♪

Alternately baconomancy, but that has the problem you mention. It is a cursed art, because you eventually become tired of bacon. Mind, that takes a couple decades, but it happens.

Actually, the most almighty concept to control is logic itself. Through logicomancy, one can amend or alter the very base axioms of logic itself to reach the desired outcome. Got a problem, any problem? Simple. Just conceptualize a third option, outside true or false. Once that's done, you simply use this extra "logical dimension" to navigate around the problem entirely and reach the optimal outcome.

To an outside observer, everything you do will appear as a paradox while remaining internally logically consistent. You could make 2 equal 1 through a series of discrete mathematical proofs, or teleport to a spot of your choosing just by logically navigating around the problem of getting there conventionally. The possibilities are endless.

Fuck that, bacon magic.

The most overpowered power is just plain old control of goddamn everything. Because everything is everything.

No, the most overpowered power is bacon magic. You can turn anything into bacon, and turn bacon into anything.
Your enemy is trying to alter logic itself to kill you? Screw them, turn logic into bacon.

I was going to type up a reply along similar lines. Something about being able to fulfill any value by imagining it as a dichotomy between the state of the universe required for that value's fulfillment being the case and it not being the case. So-called boundary magic would then cohabit the functionality class of godhood.

It seems that the form of magic I wish I had right now was to be able to come up with a concise and definite description of the attributes a valid form of magic must have. Failing that, I'd like the magic that other people find convincing enough to warrant being called a valid type of magic when described, while also fulfilling the greatest amount of my values I can claim $magic will fulfill.

Screw them, turn logic into bacon.

My first act as magic-god would be to disallow all further casting of this spell.

Oh, well, if we've completely abandoned any semblance of balance or reason, I'd go with mundane-and-magic-omancy.  It lets me control mundane things and magic things.  It also lets me control the concepts of mundanity and magic, because bacon.  (Sorry, lemon10 turned my reasons into bacon)

Back into the realm of stuff, I'd like telekinesis.  It's flight, elemental control, invulnerability, and everything else rolled into one!

Electricity would be good, since with some fine control you could turn it into illusion magic. Just redirect electrical signals in the brain, and your opponent suddenly finds themselves drowning in a cube of jello being dropped from a cargo jet into a volcano.

I pick Nullomancy, the nullification of any magic - subject to a wilful suppression of the cancellation on my part. On the other hand it wouldn't keep some pissed-off warlock jamming the muzzle of a pistol behind my ear and emptying my brains onto the wall.

...so instead I'll just settle for a Retractable Beard.

Clearly the best type of magic would be that which allows one to produce bacon at will. Unless it's involuntary, midas touch style, in which case it would be a tragedy of terrible portions as its user slowly managed to become sick of eating only bacon.

Plus, all their clothes would be really oily.

I think the astetics of the ritual are more important then whatever affect they are causing.
For example said ritual should ideally involve a lot of glowing balls of energy from my palms or pouring libations into very cool looking chalices. What that this actually accomplishes is secondary.
