Research:
Dr Smith will continue researching nuclear technology (free). Work here progresses fast.
Lab 1 will increase the power of the kerosene fuel with the help of Robert Caldwell (-$1000)Work here goes slowly
Lab 2 will improve the communications capabilities of the large radio satellite with the help of the electronics expert (-$1000)Work here goes slowly.
Lab 3 will improve the survival chance of the 3 person capsule (-$1000) Work here goes slow
Research cost: $3000

Design:
None this year.

Construction:
Add a fourth floor to the labs (-$20000)
Construction cost: $20000

Production:
1 solar powered comms satellite (-$1500)
1 Hyperion RLV (-$1000)
Production cost: $2500

Launch:
Launch the comms satellite into a stable LEO with the Hyperion
Launch and reentry are succesfull.

Other:
Invest $1000 into the aerospace department (year 1 of 5)
After launching the comms satellite, try contacting various governments (especially the US government) to see if they have changed their minds regarding comms satellites.
Nope, still no interest
Inquire further to see what funding the US government wants to provide towards launching further weather satellites.
They'd want to pay Operating costs+ 10% for a single sattelite permantent network.
Other costs: $1000

Total cost: $26500

C.H.A.S.E. Yearly report

CHASE

Research:
Lab 1st floor (Propulsion Expert): XL Safe Thruster fuel efficiency. ($2000) Work here progresses.
Lab 2nd floor: 10m fuel tank capacity  Work here progresses too.
Lab 3rd floor (Shaiming Hu): Tripod RC repair drone success rate An explosion rips through the lab. No death, and only one scientist was heavily wounded. Nobody knows what caused the disaster, except for the wounded one, who keeps proclaiming that the robot became sentient. He's probabky delirous, but should be fine in a while. The damage is estimated to lie around 5000 currency units.
Lab 4th floor (Specialized for space stations) (Yi shing): Water recycling system's effect on suppliesWork here progresses, and the water recylcing system is optimized.
Spacelab: Space Heatlh Studies (Share results with Toaster)Results are processed.

Taikonauts:
Tiruin and Taikonauts 6, 7, and 8 will not be training to improve their skills between station stays.
If Taikonauts die in the line of duty, give $1000 to their families.
In the unlikely event that a crew swapping mission fails, the station crew will receive a bonus for staying out the year.

Other:
Aerospace department investment (year 3 of 5) ($1000) (preferred specialty: quantum mechanics, theory and applications)
Use PR on my first launch of the year.

Total expenses: $(14,645 + research supplies(1345))

Research
-Dr Faust stabilises the Vasimirs more.Progress here is slow, but the VASimirs are now optimized.
-Dr Fuerza lightens the Solar PanelsWork here doesn't go very fast
-Floor three commercialises the Solar Panels. No progress is made here

Construction
Build 1 Relampago and 1 Mano de Ayuda

Missions
Launch the Relampago with the Mano do Ayuda, as far as it will go.
The Rempalogo is succesfully brought into orbit. However none of the Mano Do Ayuda's are recoverable.

Other
Send another advert to all the universities, looking for scientists. (3000+PR) No results. Btw, Pr isn't useable for everything.

Expenditure
7900  (1k Vasimirs, 1k Solar Panels, 1k commercialization 1900 rockets, 3k university)

DWARF

Research:
[Electronics Expert] Continue theoretical work on unmanned rovers.  (1k) Work here goes fast

[Thruster Expert]  Work on ionic thrusters. (1k)Work here progresses. However, The gm is too lazy to look up what they are, and how to implement them in game mechanics

[Fuel Expert]  Increase the thrust (or if that's maxed, safety) of Solid Fuel. (2k) Work here progresses.

Increase the max height of the Space Shuttle hull.  (2k)Work here doesn't progresses. A maquette flies through the lab and explodes in a freak incident(Damege: 2000)

Increase the max height of booster rockets!Work here progresses (1k)

Designs:

Nope, no design.

Building:

None today.

Other:

See Nirur's turn.  My launch schedule is in that.
Please state which scotonauts Nirur has to use. Easier for me when I have to do skill rolls, or to see who died.

Expenses: 7k research

Kingfisher: ASC monthly report

Turn:

Research:
Mass drivers.  2KResearch here progresses fast (100, grats). You can now upgrade the launcher(10.000) to limit launch weight by 40%. You can also upgrade (5000) it's weight capacity
VASIMIR engines. Work progresses. 1KWork here doesn't prgress
Superconductors. Work here progresses. 1KSlow progress

Launch: Ye olde creeper 1 to get some prestige, not much really.Launch succesfull. +2 prestige

Other: Announce the intention to have a mass driver launch by 1970. The anouncement goes unnoticed. In fact, you might even say it goes bad as many nations are fearing the military uses of this device. Your mass driver pr stunt was ridiculed by various governements. (Feel free to try the promise again though.)

Unfortunate. Except for my mad scientist installing a sentient AI in a remote controlled drone. He deserves a raise.

Er ... Me stating that shuttle for my first launch didn't have a docking system was a typo from reusing the mission orders. That shuttle had a docking system, and I never uninstalled it.

A quick question 10ebbor10: what level of nuclear technology do I need for a lightweight reactor that I can launch into space? Also, here is my turn (though I think I should have $5293 rather than $15293):

Research:
Dr Smith will continue researching nuclear technology (free)
Lab 1 with the help of Robert Caldwell will increase the power of the kerosene fuel further (-$1000)
Lab 2 with the help of the electronics scientist will improve the communications abilities of the solar powered comms sat (-$1000)
Lab 3 will increase the success chance of the 3 person capsule. If the maximum success chance is reached increase the capacity. (-$1000)
Lab 4 will investigate robotic space rovers (-$1000)
Research cost: $4000

Design:
None this year.

Construction:
Upgrade my labs to give a +15 bonus to research (-$15000 I believe)
Construction cost: $15000

Production:
2 LTSEA satellites (-$3000)
Production cost: $3000

Launch:
Launch the 2 LTSEA satellites into a stable LEO with the Hyperion. Have one of them act as a weather satellite (try to get $1650 from the US government for this) and the other study solar flares.

Other:
Aerospace Department (year 2 of 5): -$1000
I vote that the world gets Nanotechnology and light hull alloy (I don't have any strong preferences for the third technology if that's alright) and computer miniturisation.
Attempt to sell bandwidth on the comms satellite already launched to various communications companies, and see if they are interested in having any more satellites launched.
Other cost: $1000

Total cost: $23000

1. Pretty high. You can also research a nuclear battery, which is a miniature reactor which cannot be refueled.

Research
-Dr Faust increases the Fuel Use of the Vasimirs
-Dr Fuerza designs batteries
-Floor three improve the recovery rate of the Boosters

Design
Amigo de Cohetes by Alexis Solsona
Height: 3m
Weight: 463kg
Booster Bonus: 297.5kg
-Small Thruster 1m (50kg)
-Fuel tanks 2m (169*2=338kg)
-Booster 3m (25*3=75kg)

Construction
Build a third floor to the Manufactory (30m of rocket!!)

Other
Once again, look for potential scientists (3000)

Expenditure:
26000 (20k Manufactory, 3k scientist hunt, 1k Vasimirs, 1k Batteries, 1k Boosters)

I think it was mentioned a while back that we could use old tech to get a boost to similar new tech. How efficient would the transfer be from 3m thrusters with safety and fuel efficiency maxed to a new 3m thruster?

Depends on what sort of 3m thruster you want. A new system of thruster(Ie, normal to altitude compensation,...) would have no effect, but a thruster designed to be slightly less safe, much lighter, Use more fuel ,... (Ie where you are giving up one stat to gain bonus on another) could be done quite quickly.

I'd want heavier, less safe (10% or 15%), 8000 fuel use, and as much fuel efficiency as possible.

That would work . With a luckly roll they'd be ready in one turn. Just put a note next to it so I don't forget you're modifying it.

Why? I believe 10ebbor10 said that not all of your technologies are going to the public domain. In fact, your turn states that the other players can choose what technologies get released to the public domain.
