More questions:
I think you said somewhere that I'll be able to put rooms into blank station hulls after they're already in space. Is this correct, or did I imagine it?
Can I get a rough idea of my chances of recovering an empty space station hull if I launch it one year early and nobody tries to "salvage" it? Three months early? What about an unmanned cargo rocket carrying the parts?
Updating station pieces with newer tech is as easy as launching replacement parts, right?
What's likely to happen if I leave people in space for four months when my scientists suggest no more than three months (In case of a failed crew swap mission)?
I don't know wherether or not I said that, but it seems logic that you should be able to refurnish your space station. It might take some work  though.
If it's in orbit, it might survive for quite some time. it should be able to survive one year, but it might take a bit damage.
As easy as launching the replacement parts and replacing them, yeah.
Heart failures, osteoperosis, a whole lot of medical conditions. They should be able to recover of most of them, except of the fatal ones of course.

10ebbor10, a few things:
  • With the $975 cost of my Redstone III rocket, do you mind giving me a breakdown of that cost?
  • I thought you said that the third level of mission control gave 4 launches per year not 3. You said it here.
  • The reusable single stage hull has the same weight as last turn.
  • Are there any other things I can research near Earth apart from space health studies and solar flares?
  • I think that Mars flyby should be marked off as successful, even if everybody is getting sick and tired of my probe launches.
  • I guess by 'payload specialist' I want an electronics expert like Toaster has.

How much fuel would it take to reach a station in LEO, dock with it, and then return to Earth?

Astronauts weight around 75 kg, I guess.
So ... Will I be safe if I assume that everyone weighs exactly 75kg?

Can docking systems be installed on hull parts that are in orbit, if I state how many holes for docking systems the part will have before launch?

Can Toaster's Explorer Mk IIs be used as emergency lifeboats for a station?

When docking an Explorer Mk II to a station: Can I just stick a docking system into an existing shuttle before launch? If not ... Is it safe to enter/exit with a spacesuit, or will that set off the 10% death chance? Will I need to research detachable magnetic docking gadgets, or will space duct tape + an attachment spacewalk work?

1. The same fuel as required to get in orbit in LEO.
2. Yes
3. No
4. If you leave one at the Station, Yes. They're a bit big(and expensive) for that though.
5. Yes
6. Any contact with vacuum or low pressure sets of the 10% chance
7. The docking system should keep the station togheter. The only thing the crew needs to is to push the systems togheter.

I will research nanotechnology for 3k
The material scientist will make a light but strong material for hulls 1k By light material I mean alloy If not allowed to do this research fusion

Start with
For points I want to research computer miniaturization for 100 computers in general for 100 and commercialization so more like PC's then shuttle rockets for 100 nanomachines for 700

Also sell the miniaturized computers out to whoever will buy. Set up facilities with 5k

I will take the package fisher also Im sorry for holding us up and in future spoilers will be used I just screwed this one up.

There will be balancing. Probably among the lines of 1000 free research points (20*50)* and 40.000 extra funds. That should bring you near the other players without an unfair advantage.
Special person follows the normal rules.

*Or 10.00 points as they are most often noted.

TURN!

Research:
Continue to develop a size 4 space lab module- just general improvement.  If you need something specific, start with decreasing the supply usage.

[Electronics Expert] Continue work on the short-range anti-missile module for pure defensive use.

Improve the protection of the improved duct tape.

Increase the reusability of the Space Shuttle hull.  (This is still possible, right?  If not, thruster scientist will try to get more power out of the large thruster.  I believe it's 3k either way.)

Designs:

Try to decrease the failure chance of the Supporter.

Building:

Can we add a Reentry Coordination Center to the command center to improve the success of reentry?  If so, do it.  (5k?)

Other:

Build another Explorer.  (7400)

Trade my duct tape tech (plus any improvements this turn) to Nirur for his Cargo Clamp tech.

Launch an Explorer to LEO carrying two empty 4m shuttle pieces, each with two docking systems, using the space duct tape.  Leave them in stable orbit and return.

If that's too heavy (unsure of the weight of empty pieces), split it over two launches.

Expenses: 18.4 k  (6k research, 7.4k shuttle, 5k building)

You only get a special scientist or a special thingy.( Note that the computer woul have a fairly low chance of finding anyone).  Don't forget to spread out your 10.00 points.

For the anitmissile thing, do you want another AM warhead. Or some sort of AA fire.

I want a module capable of launching them.  Since I have the AM warhead developed, might as well use it.

Aha, Missile launcher. It probably won't cost that much.

Now fixed also if you cant guess where this is going I pity you.
Role Play: Samuel Whales looked at his TV saw other space programs thrive, now he wanted in on the action, Wales would become great as a result of this program and he would build a Welsh Empire.

CHASE

Research:
Lab 1st floor: Reduce the Docking System weight.
Lab 2nd floor: Water recycling system for a space station.
Lab 3rd floor (Shaiming Hu): Improve the spacegym's duration bonus.
Lab 4th floor (Specialized for space stations) (Yi shing): Increase the duration of my Large Sleeping Quarters.

Design & Production
None.

Construction
Upgrade my mission control to allow a third mission per year ($10,000)

Missions:
Preferred pilots: Taikonauts Two, Six, and Eight.
First mission:
Payload: 2m hull piece with 2 docking systems and a 1m hull piece with 1 docking system. Use Spaceducttape. ($1800)
Get the payload into stable LEO.

Second mission:
If any missions from myself or Toaster failed to get their payload into orbit, repeat the mission. My previous mission has priority.
If everything somehow succeeded, bring my space suits and any remaining oxygen tanks (plus more if needed) from last mission and collect/assemble the hull pieces.

Taikonauts:
Send Taikonaut One to pilot for the Scottish for missions involving the space station until further notice, to ensure their inferior pilots don't destroy everything I love and care about.
Redesignate Taikonaut Two to Tiruin, in honor of the war hero.

Other:
Aerospace department investment (year 5 of 5) ($1000) [Preference is a propulsion expert]
Trade with Toaster: Spaceducttape for Cargo Clamps and new data on Docking Systems.
Give Toaster $4000 (To offset the cost of his Explorer Mk IIs.)
Use my trait to improve my second launch's prestige.
Join the international conference! Create a fake mock-up of what my initial station will look like if everything goes well, which people may walk around in. (Two large sleeping quarters, a 2m life support system, the control hub, the gym, and a laboratory. The entrance and exit will be shaped like shuttles.) My leader shall personally attend. ($1200)

Total expenses: $22,000

Alright, here is my turn. Incidentally, what happens if you try to put a 4m payload into a rocket with 3m of payload space?
Research:
Dr Smith will develop a 2m tall altitude compensating thruster (free)
Lab 1 with the help of Konrad Becker will continue improving the reusability chance of the reusable single stage hull ($2000)
Lab 2 with the help of Robert Caldwell (the fuel scientist) will develop a kerosene based fuel ($1000)
Lab 3 with the help of the electronics researcher will improve the instrumentation on the Long Term SEA satellite ($1000)
Research cost:$4000

Design:
Recalculate the Hyperion RLV design using new technological developments.
Retire the Redstone II design.

Construction:
Improve the training equipment of my astronaut center (increase the maximum effect of training) (-$5000)
Construction cost: $5000

Production:
2 LTSEA satellites (-$3000)
Production cost: $3000

Launch:
Launch the two LTSEA satellites into LEO with a Hyperion. Have the satellites study solar flares.

Other:
Host an international space conference for $5000. Make a presentation of this year's launch for $2000 for this conference. Also release the results of ASTRO's interplanetary launches at the conference.
Other cost: $7000

Total cost: $19000
