What's the failure chance on the Lance?  Need to know if it'll be a good choice to put a man in space with.  (If, you know, I can find anyone that'll go.)

Aye. I think that's fine. At least we won't go to war ;)

That doesn't mean I am against trading of technology; I am quite interested in your expanded fuel tanks and would like to trade for it (possibly my fuel research or my chassis research?)

I say you get my technology of better fuel tanks for your improved fuel. Deal?

((Do I need to do anything for this joint project other than pay for train tickets?))

Design & Production
Mothball the Flare design, but don't delete it entirely -- I do not expect to need it again, and so it probably won't need to be updated, but I'd rather not completely scrap it.
You just need to specify( If you want to) which kind of university/ university departement you will prioritze. ( Engineering/ research/ political that sort of stuff). Mothballing results in me removing it from the list, but if you need it I'll go back and get it.

I've made a few changes to my turn. Most notable is my Chinese space station in a decade announcement.

After this, I intend to slow down on the press conferences. It's rather silly to try to squeeze prestige for launching a guy into space when I'm a few years away from keeping a guy in space, especially when I'm the richest player. Plus, there's probably a harsh soft cap to prevent abusing that ability.

How will space station upkeep work? Successfully launch X kg of supplies/person into orbit (and dock) per year?
Well at the moment all your press conference rolls were highly succesfull. Also yes there's a cap, but there are no rules for it.

Each part of your station has a lifetime and failurechance( There won't be much parts: ie solar panels, lifesupport). You just need to provide the station with food and spareparts when needed.
NOTE: The average person eats almost 1500 pounds(680kg) of food a Year. ANd yeah astronauts can do maintenance. Just remember that you've got no dockings systems, no spacesuits nor a lifesupport system(The current lifesupports work by just adding oxygen  to the air and not by filtering it).

You an always just hire someone. Just don't expect them to have any training or make a dashing appearance in a press conference.
Added the failure chance.

10ebbor10, are there any problems with my turn? Also:
  • How much extra thrust does it cost to land on the Moon?
  • Can I make two announcements in one turn?
  • Can my SEA satellite take photographs of stuff?
  • What exactly does "Solar flames study" do?

1) None. But it does cost some thrust to take of from it again.(50% of what is required to take off from earth). Also 100% thrust to get back to earth.
So 300% lunar flyby/ 350% Lunar landing and take off
2) Yes, however the effect of the announcements might be reduced
3) Yes, but not very high quality ones
4)Extra information. Will allow solar flames world event negation later

Right. If I just wanted to send an object past the moon and not bother about getting it back, would it cost any extra thrust?

Nope, just the 200 % standard thrust.
You can't do that next turn though, since the solar flares would mess with it's electronics.

Edit:
Math updated in post(soon)
Turn checked: a few budgetary errors have been fixed

I propose that all space programs use a single, unified docking and airlock system. In case of future emergencies, any vessel should be able to dock with any station or tender-craft.

If there are no objections, CHASE will research the first system, and sell the blueprints to any interested party for a modest fee (less than the research cost).

Player name: Anderson Spaceman
C.A.S.P
Canada
Research: German scientist work on making thrusters more powerful
I see if I can make a contact-detonation explosive.

Designs: nothing!

Other: Send anything we learn in this year to the Austrians, for them to use, EXCEPT the gains from the American Trade. (sorry Kingfisher)
Trade techs with the Americans (i give them higher capacity fuel tanks, for their more efficient fuel)
All done.

ASC:
Research: Light hulls!
Designs: nothing!
Other: Press conference. Counter accuse THEM of espionage, and claim that they attempted to steal my Hull research.
All done.

I'm interested in that unified system, Nirur.

It was crunch time.  Urist had to get someone up there, and the Lance wasn't reliable enough.  It'd have to be an old Spear Mk III, which couldn't get him as much lift as he wanted, but so be it.

He broke out his contacts book and tried to get someone who would go up there.  If all else fails, well, he'd go himself.

Research:
Life Support Module:  Increase the survival chance

Space Shuttle:  Let's look into reusable launch vehicles.

Large Thruster:  Keep getting that explosion risk down!

Designs:
None today

Building:
Build a security station for the complex (5k)

Other:
Build a Spear Mk III, put the life support module (with escape rocket) on it, put someone in there, and launch it!  Go to MEO if possible (I think the thrust is sufficient.)

Priority list for astronauts:
Air Force/other military pilot
Other NATO country pilots
Professional commercial pilots
Volunteers from the research lab
Other volunteers
Stunt pilots from anywhere (paid if needed)
Myself.

Expenses:  11.1k (4k research + 2100 rocket + 5k building)
