I might have to do that.

Nirur:  I am interested in your 2-stage hull.  What do I have that interests you?

10ebbor10:  So I don't have to keep bugging you, can you put all the relevant math in the OP somewhere?  Especially how to calculate payload and what the effects of % bonuses to thrust are.  I'm trying to see what I need to get my dogmobile in space.

I'll trade you the plans for my two-stage hull for your improved standard fuel plans.

Deal.  Putting it in turn now.

Going to do that.

For payload of multistage rockets:
Thrust stage 1/(Weight stage 1+Weight stage 2+ Payload)+Thrust stage2/ Weight stage 2 needs to be greater of equal to one

For other destinations than LEO( Multiply the weight by X)
LEO:          X=100%
MEO           X= 125%
GEO           X=150%
Out of orbit X= 200%

To get something into orbit multiply the weight by 110%.

For thrust bonuses multiply the amount of thrust by your thrust bonus( Pretty straightforward)
Thrust is calculated by multiplying the amount of fuel by the fuel burn rate.( STandard 2kg for 1liter). This happens before the thrust bonus.

Since the prices aren't really that important

Hull plating: 25 per meter
Fueltank: 50 per meter
Engine : 100

Note: on a succesfull research roll the weight of your dogmobile will go down by hundreds of kilo's

That's what I want, as a 1000kg module isn't going to get off the pad any time soon- I barely launch rockets of that weight.

We are running low on time, in only a few years I will have to make good of my promise. You, scientist! Tell Dr Faust we'll need to forestall work on the thrusters, we need some way to transmit a signal from space. What? At the same time? Why did no one tell me we had a second floor to the labs? Send a team in to clean out the spiders that have no doubt started living in there. You'd better start making use of it before we we've wasted any more time! You just can't get the staff..

Research:
-Dr Faust continues research into improving the efficiency of our thrusters
-A second team develops something which can transmit a signal from space. Some form of artificial satellite perhaps?
Design:
N/A
Construction:
Build an 'El Perajo Cantor II'
Launch:
Launch an 'El Perajo Cantor II'
Expenditure:
3,750 (1k for satellite, 2k for thrusters, 750 for the rocket)

What does Spain being in a TA with Russia actually mean for me?

For the moment nothing, seeing as the Russian player disappeared. However, when someone starts an independence war in SPain, Russia will be among the first to send help.

"According to this report, the Americans are using power from the Sun for toys. Go figure out a way to power a satellite this way. While you're working on that, reduce our future costs with re-usable rockets."

Research:
Lab 1st floor: Practical solar cells
Lab 2nd floor: Re-usable primary phase rocket chassis

Design & Production
None

Construction
None.

Missions:
Launch a satellite into stable LEO using the Expedition class light cargo rocket. (I should have enough thrust using Scottish liquid fuel.)

Other:
Increase prestige from my launch
Press Conference: -$1000
Trade Two-Stage Hull for Liquid Fuel from the scottish. Full blueprints.

Total expenses: -$3000

A few questions:
  • You seem to have changed the maths for calculating extra thrust requirements (not that there is anything wrong with that). Just to be sure, is the cost for attaining a stable geostationary orbit 160% thrust (the earlier maths, where 10% was added) or 165%?
  • Does my satellite have a failure rate, or can I refrain from improving its reliability?

The thrust is 160%. my mistake
Your satellite doesn't have a failure rate because it doesn't survive an entire month.

Research:
Continue Research on life support systems, hopefully not blowing up everything this time

Design & Production
Design a smaller version of the Regained I

Construction
Produce as many Regained II as currently possible of course with mounted thermobaric weapons

Other:
Sell all Rockets of the Regained I and II to the Basques

Total expenses: 1000 Research + 750 Design + Costs of Regained II Rockets...

Can you have multiple Scientists working on the same project?

Can you have multiple Scientists working on the same project?
Multiple scientist: Yes(Ie if you have 2 +10 bonus scientist you can put them on the same project)
Multiple labs: No

Edit:
@ Toaster: Your rocket design is still invalid.
@Ghazkull: Please state how much smaller you want your rocket design to be. Exact numbers are easier to calculate.
