Actually, if I made some improvements to the Redstone I or my satellite, would I need to do anything to launch the satellite using the rocket?
Nope

@ Evil Mahajardja: What are the specifics of the engine. Does it weight more or less, more powerfull, ...
And what does the computersystem do? It can't spontanously make space travel faster, how would you do that?( No folding up space and such)

I want a more powerful engine. Around the same size, maybe a bit larger.

Computersystem: Focus on stabilizing the rocket by helping the pilots (from ground at the moment) control it. In other words: Make it less likely to blow up.

W.A.T. Yearly report

Research:
Research into the Aerosol payload goes fast, very fast.(Why do you want to blow things up). However, with no countries wanting to go to war it is still essentially useless.

Design:
N/A

Launch:
N/A

Construction:
You build another Regained I and arm it with a thermobaric warhead. Sadly it isn't ready in time for it to be launched.

Other:

Many nations aren't interested in your warheads, stating that the peace will last forever. It seems they still don't trust Germans after the second World war( Note, I did actually roll for this) It almost leaked out to the press.

Random events: Lightning strikes the research building. The replacement of equipment costs 500

Notes: WHitout researching a capsule, which weights quite a lot, you can't launch living things in space.
Expenses:

ASTRO Yearly report

Research

•Dr Smith: Research progresses quite well.

Design

Construction
Another redstone is constructed.

Launch
The Redstone One's first launch is a tragedy: It violently exploded while being fueled killing 2 technicians and severly damaging the launchpad(Repairing cost 1000). The press expects a statement from you
Other:
While people while originally very enthousiastic, enthousiasm has diminished due to The Redstone 1 tragedy.

Special event: The US governement has acknowledgded your losses and has given you a one time funds bonus

Research:
Lab 1st floor: Solid fuel research doesn't go that well.
Lab 2nd floor: THe 2 stage rocket fares a bit better, but not much.

Construction

Missions:
The second flare rocket is again a succes, but sadly the solid fuel wasn't ready yet. You did manage to get the thing in an orbit, but considering it did nothing there, nobody considers it useful.
Prestige: +1

Other:

Improve prestige from my launch.
-$1000: Press conference
Announce the new CHASE goal of getting a radio-transmitting object in a stable orbit within 5 years.
The press conference is a succes, sadly nobody considers it breathaking news, since 2 organisations already stated they'd do it earlier: +2 Prestige

Special event: Nothing happened

Total expenses: -$3000

STARS Yearly report

Research
Doctor Faust makes several major breakthroughs. Sadly he has to announce that the thruster has reached the point where further research would require more complictated parts, and henceforth more funding( Upgrading small thruster now cost 2000, developing other things/thrusters still the same price

Missions

The El abajerro's launchs doesn't go really fluently, and engineers are no wiser about possible problems.
It doesn't warrant any new funds either

Other:

Special events: While working on new engines design, Doctor Faust came up with a new idea. What if they could add small rockets to side of a rocket, increasing it's power. He put these rocket boosters away for now, but he would like to research more about them later.

Expenses:

DWARF Yearly report.

Research:
The unnamed scientist makes some good progress with upgrading the rocket fuel

Life Support Module: Kabloie. Nah just kidding. Progress isn't that good though and they nearly blew up the lab(twice). Eventually the showed up with a monstorosity of a machine, weighting more the a ton.

How tall is the life support module?

Do we need to build anything to design/build rockets of greater than 10m?  I know you need to upgrade the launchpad to launch them.

I don't think there's much in the way of organized terrorism in 1949.

It comes with it's own hull. Later, when you start to build multiroom spaceships you have to add a spereate hull for them

You either need a 2 stage hull or upgrade the sinle stage one.

Oooh.  So it's just monstrous.

Okay, I'll probably just have to go with a fancy new hull.   What about designing larger rockets?

2 stage ones are designed as 2 single stage ones on top of each other.

For example

Stage 1: Lowest stage(1000 thrust, 1050 weight)
5*100 hull
1*100 engine
4*125 fuel tank

Stage 2 (1000 thrust, 1050 weight)
Stage 1: Lowest stage
5*100 hull
1*100 engine
4*125 fuel tank

Capacity equals: 1<Thrust1/(Weight 1+ Weight 2) + Thrust2/( Weight 2)

@ Nirur Torir: You ain't going to get that fuel safer, you know. Also thanks for fixing the math. Made a couple of big mistakes.

Also, fixed all the cash numbers, everything should be correct now.

Toaster, you might want to look at your cash  since I gave you about 7000 to many first.

What happened to my funding from last turn?  I had had 15k in the bank to cover those 12k expenses.

Do we need to build anything to design/build rockets of greater than 10m?  I know you need to upgrade the launchpad to launch them.

Also, not quite sure I understand on the two-stage rocket.  Can I use existing technology for it or do I need to research something extra?

Oh, right, I forgot about partial successes for technology, and thought nothing was ready yet. I'll need to rethink my research.

Is it possible to mix hull types (Say, have a second stage hull for an engine base, that launches the single-stage hull)?
