just so that i understand that right...

if i want to add more fuel (leading to mroe thrust, i need another stage? Or do i need to research a two-stage design?

There are multiple options:
You can research more efficient engines or upgrade the existing ones to provide more thrust( Hint: do this, the current ones have a 50% explosion chance)
You can create larger fuel tanks and engines
You can design a multiple stages system
You can research more efficient fuel
You can try to reduce the components weight

These are just the things I can think of right now. The most efficient one right now would be to upgrade your engines, as they are nowhere near perfect and have a way to high spontanous combustion chance.

Can we put more thrusters on a rocket to counter that?

To counter what?
Putting more thrusters on a rocket would increase the spontanous combustion chance, not lower it.( Failures are rolled for each thruster).

You can research things like thruster coupling and synchronisation though, which will allow to place more thrusters parallel to each other. This means that on one meter you can place multiple thrusters.

Also:I'm currently doubting wherether or not I should make a game thread.

Ahh, My bad. I thought it was just the thrusters failing to work, not setting themselves on fire.

Depending on how bad they fail, they either just stop working or spontanously combust.( Resulting in a nice explosion.)

If you have two thrusters and one goes blooie, your whole rocket is probably toast.

Also, I research mass drivers to get away from the whole inefficient rocket technology.   :P

Mid/Late game tech. I  mean, seeing as a 10 meter high launch platform already cost 5000, what would a 120 km long mass driver cost?

It won't. Game needs at least 6 players to function Well ,other players can always join druring the game, can they.

Well, I think  it'll start it within an hour or two. Still wondering wherether or not to make a game thread.
Also, rule edit. Science now cost 1000 instead of 5000. However, the price will increase later.( The price was static previously.)

You could always DM one of the Big Two.

Nah, that's not fun.  Though you won't be the only space organisations. Also, people joining mid-game will get start bonusses.

Turn0:

1 January 1946:

It's a historical day today, as four organisations have voiced their intentions to conquer Space. The traditional superpowers, Sovjet-Russia and the U.S., have made no progress on their rocketry efforts. Many suspect that their rivalry has led them to sabotage each other. So, it is no suprise that other countries are trying to claim space. What might be a suprise is the rise of the Chinese Space organisation, since China has long been considered a sleeping giant, but it seems that Japans conquest has shook them awake. The other countries are no suprise, as Spain, Scotland and West-germany have traditionally been important industrial nations.
