"Grenade!"
Beta and Gamma immediately start moving, trying to clear themselves of the blast radius, Alpha safe behind the boulder. Gamma was able to use the cave system to his advantage, quickly putting a few meters of rock and soil between him and the explosive. Beta was not so lucky. Having nothing to hide behind, and a sheer cliff in front of him he was most certainly in range when the grenade impacted, and detonated.
White hot shards flew everywhere, peppering the cave mouth, and Beta along with it. He took multiple hits in the back, and a few in the legs. For this skirmish at least, he was out.

---

"Target spotted."
Delta tracked the Heavy as he leapt off of the cliff for a few moments, before pulling the trigger and releasing a Rod of Tungsten out of the barrel at speeds only a rail rifle could reach. The rod impacted into the Heavy's abdomen, penetrating through, before reappearing out of the other side with a spray of blood.
"Target neutralised." Delta coldly confirmed.

The slug punches into the cliff face, breaking into molten fragments.  The stricken Heavy falls, the shot having missed his plasma pack (he has a plasma rifle) by just centimeters.  Soldier Two, shocked, fires his jetpack at full throttle to get out of the field of fire as soon as possible.

At the other side of the plateau, more success is being had.  Taking advantage of the distraction caused by the grenade, Soldier One fires two shots from his rifle.  The beams hit the rocks just by the Federation rifleman, spraying hot bits of rock and gas.  Heavy Two finishes sealing Soldier Three's arm, and while he will be unable to do anything strenuous without worsening it, he will survive the wound.  The Sergeant walks to the east, and contacts the dropship pilot with a situation report and area map.

In the distance, the sound of jet engines can be heard.

Beta crumpled, blood oozing from the various holes in his combat suit. The suit AI applied pressure to the wounds, and pumped pain killers into his system, fighting the inevitable result. A field medic was his only chance now.
"Life Signs Critical. Immediate Medical Attention Advised."
Alpha spotted the Antaeran soldier re-emerge over the lip of the cliff, just as it fired a pair of plasma bolts into his cover. Leaping away from the superheated stone, his armour scorched, he knelt and returned fire just as Prime received the automatic distress signal from Beta's suit. He quickly started scaling the mono-filament cable. If he could divert the Antaeran's attention then Beta could be recovered.

Theta quickly dove into the cave, fitting another rod into the rifle as One moved around behind the fleeing soldier.

The UFE outpost realizes it's in the wrong dimension and poofs out of existance. At the same time, several soldiers and a tanks appear in the same area. To these British soldiers, it's 1917, and they were sent to see if a german prisoner's talk of aliens in this area was true. The prisoner is being led in front of the riflemen.

Declare. (APOLOGIES FOR DOUBLE POST)

"It was meant to be a god damn mining operation. But some assholes just HAD to have their war here. Too much has been invested into this area, we're not wasting that money. We're certain that there's oil somewhere, and we're going to find it. Whatever the cost."

A faint whirring sound is heard up above, and a loaded helicopter throws a supply crate off. If the helicopter can escape, It'll be back with more supplies. The men jump out with the supply crate, most of them hoping their parachutes still work.

Operation Red has begun
