Now I am frustrated.
« on: February 07, 2012, 04:56:09 am »

I have been trying to be good and play a good long game of DF fortress mode.

Problem is, no matter how I make the world, weather I use the search function or not, I can't seem to find any place that has a decent amount of Iron containing ores.

What in the WORLD am I doing wrong?

Please note, I am using Masterworks DF, since I came back to DF after playing a bit of a heavily modded minecraft, figured I would look into some mods for DF.

Iron is needed for anything pretty much in depth. Screw trading for it (hell someone just give a way of hacking in some or something...I wanna see what else I can do in the game with out some of the troubles.

Loosing might be fun, but winning is more fun.
I wanna be all Charlie Sheen about this.

Meph's mod simplifies the stone layers so finding an embark with flux isn't all that hard. Are you sure there are no flux stones at all?

Also, you don't need a whole lot of iron anyways. The only real use I can see for it is weapons. You can use glass as a magma safe material for building instead of metal, and wood and stone can make everything else.

Hmm..just feels like Iron should be something I am making my weapons out of...I feel like a coward staying inside my fort like thing is going on out side when there is a seige.

I still dont know a good portion of the game mechanics (EG seige weapons) but figured iron should be a good thing to go for for the way I am stepping up my experance.

I dare you to find and mine all that platinum. Then make 67 platinum statues, one on every spot where you mined some platinum.

Yes, but the same is true when you are playing something ridiculously hard.

Don't get me wrong, I love the difficulty of this game, I just don't like it's bullshit.

Your on! If I live that long....

What the fuck.

Mine it all, and put a candy sarcophagus on every single spot where you mined it.

The reaction helps the purpose.

Don't forget, you can increase the ore frequency in worldgen settings.

However for some annoying reason the higher the frequency of ore the lower the frequency of flux stone.

You could always melt down the iron weapons 'imported' by goblins

Re: That much adamantine.

Totally possible without bugs, assuming there's 3 caverns, they're all small and near the top, and there's a ton of z layers between cavern 3 and the magma sea.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Bro, generate a world with lots of minerals (world gen setting) and embark on a place with both shallow and deep metals. Open LNP, run the reveal program and then the prospector. If it aint there, abandon.
